Bad Brett. Bad Favre.

Associated Press - BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. -- Quarterbacks Brett Favre and Steve McNair, in connection with the NFL Youth Football Fund, have handed out 20 checks totaling $150,000 to help local football programs in south Mississippi recover from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.

Favre and McNair, both Mississippi natives, first discussed a Katrina relief effort during a preseason game between the Green Bay Packers and Tennessee Titans in Nashville last year. The two agreed the Brett Favre Fourward Foundation and the Steve McNair Foundation would do what they could to help those in need.

Their efforts in the month following Katrina included 20 semitrailers filled with baby formula, water, food and other supplies. On Thursday, high school football programs trying to regroup with lost equipment took center stage. "We were doing a piece for the Red Cross in Nashville when we talked about what we could do for some of the people. We tried to do what we could to bring some joy...It will not be enough, but we're happy to help get these programs back and running. It will take a while for the coast to get back, but hopefully this will help some," Favre said.

The grants ranged between $1,500 and $5,000 with the NFL matching funds up to $5,000 to schools and nonprofit youth football organizations. To receive the grants, schools and youth leagues filled out applications with the NFL Youth Football Fund. Favre's foundation awarded checks to four schools and one youth league in Hancock County and Mercy Cross High in Biloxi. McNair's foundation contributed 15 checks to schools ranging from the Gulf Coast to Bassfield and Laurel.

But we all KNOW the truth - that good ole boy Brett is just a selfish primadonna, thinking only of himself because he made a mistake and retired early and just wants to play football. Shame on you, Brett. But thanks for the cash. And Packer GM Ted Thompson is still a douche bag.
