Passion = Truth? How Jeffrey James Francis Ircink Sees The World? I love when people are passionate about something. That surging of emotion is the one honest measure of what truth is. It's a truthful display of how a person really feels about something or someone at that particular moment. That passion IS truth.

Brett Favre official number retirement. Lambeau. 11/26/15.

"Here come I to my own again,
Fed, forgiven and know again,
Claimed by bone of my bone again,
And cheered by flesh of my flesh..."

- from Rudyard Kipling's "The Prodigal Son"

Brett Favre. Lambeau. Official number retirement/ring of honor ceremony. Halftime. Green Bay versus Chicago. November 26, 2015. Thanksgiving.

Following our Thanksgiving dinner, I watched the game and ceremony with my family - as we've always done. 'Cause we've always been thankful for The Gunslinger - The Iron Man...Number 4.

Favre selfie - morning of the ceremony in Green Bay.

Legendary Green Bay Hall of Famer/NFL Hall of Famer, QB Bart Starr, was on hand to help celebrate Favre's number retirement.

One of my favorite Favre pictures. Illustrates everything that made him the player he was.

Another SI cover to commemorate Favre's return to Lambeau in July 2015.

Who's the Lions' fan?

I wanna know who this asshole is. Stumbled on this photo when Brett Favre was in the news recently talking about football concussions.

This photo was from the Minnesota Vikings @ Detroit Lions but it doesn't say the year. Favre played with Minnesota for the 2009 and 2010 season. In 2009 when the Vikings visited Detroit, the Vikes killed the Lions, 27-13. So the "old man" sign really looks like a douche bag move, douche bag.

In 2010, the Vikes visited Detroit near the end of the season when Favre was hurt and not playing. I'll give this fan the benefit of the doubt that he knew better to not hold this sign up when Favre wasn't even in the game. Therefore, I'm assuming this was the 2009 meeting when the Vikings and the "old man" kicked Detroit's ass.

This is why I never make public predictions on games. Or hold up moronic signs. Someone tell me who this guy is.

#4 is 44!

Happy Birthday, Brett Favre! The NFL - at least for me and my brother - isn't the same without you. Matter of fact - we barely watch anymore.

#4 debuts with the Minnesota Vikings! 4 years ago today...

Brett Favre had his debut outing with the Minnesota Vikings on this day in 2009. Favre and the Vikings beat the Cleveland Browns, 34-20. Above:  Brett and Percy Harvin after the two connected for a TD. Read about it here.

The NFL - for me - has never been the same. SKOL, Favre!!!

Vikings. Packers. NFC Wildcard Saturday!

Now, do I think the Vikings have a chance in this one? Sure I do - they beat the Packers last week. The Vikings, however, are not as talented as Green Bay. They have Adrian Peterson (above), but AP alone can't beat the Packers.

We'll see. I hope it's a good game. I hope the Vikes don't get thrashed if they lose. And I hope AP runs the ball down the Packers' fucking throats. Any given Sunday, man. Or Saturday. Enjoy! SKOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLL!

Tagliabu = pussy.

In his official mediation, former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue ruled that, though the New Orleans Saints coaching staff is to be held accountable for the illegal bounties (Google it) and confirmed the Saints players cooperated in the scheme, all the players were doing was following orders. Thus, the four players suspended - Jpnathan Vilma, Anthony Hargrove, Scott Fujita and Will Smith - will have their suspensions wiped clean.

I don't even know what that means. They were involved - but just following orders. Are there little children now playing in the NFL? They can be fined but not suspended. I still don't know what that means. "Following orders"? What does that remind you of in history? Think WWII.

From now on, the word "pussy" in my vocabulary will be replaced with "tagliabue . Or "taggy".

Thanks, Susan Lombardi!

QUOTE OF THE YEAR...

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (rag), Dec. 8, 2012, Susan Lombardi, daughter of NFL legend Vince Lombardi, touched on a number of subjects during a two-hour interview at her home in De Pere. The highlight:

On what her father, Vince Lombardi, would have thought of Brett Favre:
"Brett would have been my father's favorite quarterback."

what Leroy Butler said...

...if the referees call the game right, Minnesota’s in the Super Bowl because they can kick a field goal from - like the 35, Sparky, instead of the 50…I think Brett Favre and Minnesota got an unfair shake. They did not throw the flags and I wanna know why, in the 2009 investigation, what did the referee – what was his comment. He was standing right there – Brett went to him and told him, 'Look man, they’re hitting me', and the ref said, ‘I gotcha, I gotcha, I gotcha’. They hit him (Favre) 3 more times during the stretch of that and was it worth it? Was all this worth it?...

- Leroy Butler, former Super Bowl-winning Green Bay Packer on ESPN's 1250AM The Big Show in Milwaukee, commenting on the 2009 NFC Championship game between the Minnesota Vikings and New Orlean Saints during a discussion on "Bountygate". NO beat MN in OT and went on to win the SB. Funny though - I don't recall any of the guys on The Big Show talking like this when it happened three years ago.

"You have been weighed, you have been measured, and you have been found wanting. Come back when you're worthy. Bitches."

Above:  Two cunts in search of a life. Head Coach Sean Payton (left) and former Defensive Coordinator Gregg Williams. Both out of a job for at least a year. HA!

Ah yes....great quote from A Knight's Tale. My post headline - don't tell me you haven't seen A Knight's Tale???

The High Commish of the NFL has laid down the law on these two pricks - as well as other coaches on the New Orleans Ain'ts. In case you don't know, the Ain'ts were found in violation of NFL policy for offering bounties - cash to deliver hits on other players. So much cash for a knock out, so much for cash for this or that. Williams has since left the Ain'ts (January 2012) for the Tennessee Titans (coincidence?), but he's suspended indefinitely so who knows what'll happen to his sorry ass. Payton was suspended for one year. His reaction - stunned. Actually he said:
Jay Glazer (Fox Sports):  "Are you, OK?"

Sean Payton:  "No - I'm not OK."

Too fucking bad, you fuck. You fucked with my Minnesota Vikings - and Brett Favre - in the 2009 NFC Championship game (Vikes got robbed in OT), a game my gut tells me we would've won (even with 6 turnovers) had Favre not been knocked around like an ultimate fighter player (this - in a league that "protects" its QB's). Course, that's just my opinion. Anyways, Commish Goodell will hand down sentences on Ain't' players soon. The Minnesota Vikings already got rid of one former Ain't they picked up (last year?) who figures on being suspended.

Here's the full story.

Bye, bye, asshole(s). You cheered to the world while raising your Super Bowl trophy, "This is for New Orleans! This is for Katrina! This is for the fans!" Cheating shitbags. Go fuck yourselves. And take your Super Bowl trophy and stick it up your collective twats.

FYI:  And if anyone comments, "Don't be naive, Jeff - this is going on all over the NFL", you can fuck yourself too. You don't know how widespread it is (or isn't). We do know it apparently has happened on teams Gregg Williams coached for. Regardless - the Ain'ts GOT CAUGHT. Period.

Jedi prayer, goats & another goat...Gregg Williams.

Gregg Williams is the former New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator. I've always been creeped out by him and my intuition is very accurate. So Williams leaves the Saints in January for the same position with the St. Louis Rams and suddenly the NFL releases a 50,000 page report based on an investigation that Williams offered "bounties" (monies) to his defensive players while at New Orleans to "take out" players from opposing teams. Hmmmmm....coincidence?

Remember the NFC Championship game two years ago? With Brett Favre at the helm of the Minnesota Vikings, the Saints beat Minnesota in OT and went on to win the Super Bowl. Favre got the shit kicked out of him most of the game - one penalty was called, at least one penalty wasn't called that the refs admitted afterwards that they missed and there were at least a half dozen other calls that should've been penalties as well. I mean, even a blind man could see Favre looked like an ultimate fighter contestant on the field rather than a quarterback in the NFL - a league that "says" it makes it a priority to "protect" it's QB's.

Here's the story with more details. Williams has issued an apology...but he can fuck himself. Head Coach Sean Payton apparently knew about it so he can fuck himself too. So did the GM and owner. Fucker's 3 & 4. Still waiting to hear how the NFL will come down on Williams, the coaching staff of the Saints and its players. So basically the whole team can fuck itself. Word is that the penalties will be harsh.

So for all of you fans who knew the Saints were playing dirty in that NFC Championship game but whose cries fell on deaf ears, our time has come. This jedi prayer from "The Men Who Stare at Goats" is for you.
"Mother Earth, you are my life support system. As a soldier I will drink your blue water, live inside your red clay and eat your green skin. Help me to balance myself as you hold and balance the Earth, the sea and the space environments. Help me to open my heart knowing the universe will feed me. I pray my boots will always kiss your face and my footsteps match your heartbeat. Carry my body through space and time. You are my connection to the universe and all that comes after. I am yours and you are mine. I salute you...oh, and Gregg Williams is a cunt."

"Sorry, Aaron, it's true."

Finally something Milwaukee's SportsRadio 1250 and I agree on. Packers got their cheese unexpectedly curdled yesterday in the divisional match-up with the New York Giants - NY 37, GB 20. Season over - first time in NFL history a 15-1 team went one and done.

Vick - AP Comeback Player of Year? Fucking travesty.

"Come back" from what? Prison? The award should go to a player who "comes back" after having sub par years or "comes back" from an injury, not coming back after missing two seasons because the fucking loser served a federal sentence for murdering dogs. Hey, Associated Press writers...you're a fucking joke!

Jenn Sterger's daddy pissed his daughter got no-end of the deal.

Brett Favre. Jenn Sterger. You've all read the news reports. I won't comment 'cause you know I'm a Favre fan and Sterger had no case. She's a gold-digger looking to expound upon her 15 minutes of fame. (And she got no money from Favre, her show on Versus got cancelled and her prospects are most likely slim to none.)

BUT, here's how 45 Americans responded to Mr. Sterger's recent interview with the press (where was Mr. Sterger when this nonsense was playing out all these months? on how his daughter got screwed by the NFL's non-ruling on the Favre-Sterger case (reprinted from Play Through the Absurdity) and how if he ever meets Favre in an alley he's gonna kick his ass.

"Low-brow Americans"? Hmmmm...I think these low-brow Americans hit the nail on the head. SKOL FAVRE! SKOL VIKINGS!

Adrian Peterson...FedEx Ground Player for Week 13!

Not really. Maurice Jones-Drew from the Jacksonville Jaguars won it. But Peterson should have. Are NFL voters just plain stupid? Compare stats:

Maurice = 31 att., 186 yds., 0 tds, longest run of 37 yds., avg gain per carry = 6 yds.
Peterson = 16 att., 107 yds., 3 tds, longest run of 43 yds., avg gain per carry = 6.7 yds.

The Jaguars beat the Titans, 17-6. The Vikings beat the Bills, 38-14.

The most efficient way of "working" is the least amount of effort for the most gained (something like that). Agreed? Peterson had less attempts for less yardage BUT his average gain per rush was higher AND he scored three times. Jones-Drew never scored a TD. Now, talk to me like I'm a 4th grader. Why should Jones-Drew's performance be held in higher regard than Peterson's? This does not make sense.

I'm declaring that NFL voters are morons and got it wrong AND that Adrian Peterson IS the FedEx Ground Player of the Week for Week 13. It is finished.

Velkomstord, Lito...and SKOL!

Lido, whoa-oh-oh-oh
He's for the money, he's for the show
Lido's waitin' for the go
Lido, whoa-oh-oh-oh
He said one more job ought to get it
One last shot 'fore we quit it
One more for the road
"Lido Shuffle" by Boz Scaggs

The Minnesota Vikings picked up Lito Sheppard the other day (non-draft) - a one-year deal that adds a nine-year veteran and two-time Pro Bowler to a group of cornerbacks that includes starters Cedric Griffin, Antoine Winfield and backups Benny Sapp and Asher Allen.

Sheppard was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round of the 2002 NFL Draft and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2004 and 2006. He played for the New York Jets last season and has been injured quite a few times. We'll have to wait and see.

Ben-Ben, Ben-Ben, Ben. Hope it was worth it. 6-game suspension.

I blogged about Pittsburgh Steeler QB Ben Roethlisberger’s recent sexually-laced legal woes last month. Kudos to NFL Commish Roger Goodell for handing "Big Ben" a 6-game suspension. This is the exact reason why the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy is in place.

Here are a few excerpts from Commissioner Goodell’s letter:

My decision today is not based on a finding that you violated Georgia law, or on a conclusion that differs from that of the local prosecutor. That said, you are held to a higher standard as an NFL player, and there is nothing about your conduct in Milledgeville that can remotely be described as admirable, responsible, or consistent with either the values of the league or the expectations of our fans.

Your conduct raises sufficient concerns that I believe effective intervention now is the best step for your personal and professional welfare.

I believe it is essential that you take full advantage of the resources available to you. My ultimate disposition in this matter will be influenced by the extent to which you do so, what you learn as a result, and a demonstrated commitment to making positive change in your life.

In your six years in the NFL, you have first thrilled and now disappointed a great many people. I urge you to take full advantage of this opportunity to get your life and career back on track.

Let's see...what games is Big Ben gonna miss? Atlanta, @ Tennessee, @ Tampa Bay, Baltimore, Cleveland and @ Miami. Good luck, back-up QB Byron Leftwich. (Too bad the NFL's PCC doesn't cover matters like waffling about retirement. You know - 'cause that's such a big fucking deal to some people.)
