Passion = Truth? How Jeffrey James Francis Ircink Sees The World? I love when people are passionate about something. That surging of emotion is the one honest measure of what truth is. It's a truthful display of how a person really feels about something or someone at that particular moment. That passion IS truth.

Antique storm...something.

Thought is was a storm window. Then I was told it was a stormer for a door. Small door. For a hobbit, maybe. Course the inside of the door would be smaller. I don't know. It's from an 1890 farmhouse in Greenfield. I'll make some use of it.

Dust pans & chairs & Hippie Tom, oh my!

Hippie Tom opens up his property, Serendipity Antiques (which is just outside of my hometown, Waterford) four weekends a year to the public. I stopped by today for a looksee. Overwhelming. Way too many people. I need to schedule a private visit with HT. I like to "pick" in private.

HT's popularity has swelled due to his recent appearance on "American Pickers". Here's the MJS article...and a few pics I snapped.

Hippie Tom loves dust pans.

"Cause I'm a picker, I'm a grinner...."

"...I'm a lover. And I'm a sinner. Playin' my music in the sun."
- excerpt from "The Joker", by The Steve Miller Band (Steve's from Milwaukee, by the way)

My latest foray into antiquing, primitives and the like yielded some cool finds. This handle fastening device (above) was a three-in-one tool manufactured by Bridgeport Hardware Manufacturing. The patent was issued to Willis F. Hobbs on October 6, 1914. "Iroquois" is marked on one side of the handle - may be the style of tool, not sure. Apparently it was pretty common in the grocery business as a crate-hammer-box-hatchet-pry bar. Picked it up for $20. Ebay prices ranged from $30 - $150 (never used) and it comes in a variety of styles.

Titled "Spring" and reminiscent of a Currier & Ives print. I also like the frame.

Ten bucks. Never know what to do with all those votive candles I have.

Box with leather strap. I'll figure out some use for it.

Two bucks at the Prairie Chicken Festival in Wisconsin Rapids. Reader's Digest knows everything.

Beeswax taper candle. If they had known it was beeswax, it would've been higher than $3.50.

Funnel. Jas & I can use this when we go sugaring. No chance of maple syrup dripping over the bottles.

Unique pulley system doo-dad. I've never seen one like this before. Gonna leave it just like that and hang it on the wall.

Kodak negative contact print frames. Probably late 1800's. Picture frames.

Mission rocker.

Scored this mofo from an antique dealer in Marion, Iowa. Could be a Stickley but no identifying tags or stickers. It's Arts and Crafts, that's for sure and I'm guessing at least 70-years-old. Anyone know an antique appraiser? I've been looking for one for a while. $179. Then I hemmed and hawed about whether it would fit in my car and she took another $20 off.

And - and even if it was a reproduction (which it isn't), you couldn't purchase it for what I paid.

Mirror, mirror on my wall in Greendale.

"Mirror, mirror upon the wall, Who is the fairest of all?"
The mirror answered, "Thou, O Jeffrey James, art the fairest of all."

Jeff smirks. "Good mirror".

Bought this when I purchased the library desk (see a couple blog posts below). Says "Barcelona" on the back. Early 1900's, according to the seller. Heavy as shit with beveled edges. A really beautiful piece.

Now...where to put it.

Antiques Roadshow hits LA!

Not really. But I picked up this old school desk from the boss at work - we were using it for the fax machine in the lobby. Bruce wanted it gone - so I grabbed it.

Not sure how old it is but if anyone can give me some insight into this piece I would appreciate it.

I don't know that the rollers are original.

Can you make this out? "School"? "1...3368..."?
