Passion = Truth? How Jeffrey James Francis Ircink Sees The World? I love when people are passionate about something. That surging of emotion is the one honest measure of what truth is. It's a truthful display of how a person really feels about something or someone at that particular moment. That passion IS truth.

Just when we thought we were finished screening our short film, "Pass the Salt, Please", starring Seymour Cassel and Fionnula Flanagan, we're instantly pulled back into the festival fray. PTSP is headed for Turkey...and our 37th screening. Fil'm Hafizasi Presents:  "The Cook, the Elephant, It's Memory & Lover". We're screening in this program as part of Fil'm Hafizasi's Thematic Nights project this evening, May 28 @ 8:00 pm. If you find yourself in Turkey and near Istanbul, it's worth your while.

PTSP was directed by Tatjana Najdanovic, written by Jeffrey James Ircink (me), executive producers Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Radha Mitchell and Arthur Edström, producers Max Maksimovic, Diana Jackson O'Keeffe and associate producer Gary Benser.

In preparation for our Istanbul screening, I practiced a Whirling Dervish dance...I'm second from the right.

Happy Birthday, Seymour!

You know character actor Seymour Cassel. Come on...Faces (Oscar nominee), Coogan's Bluff, Minnie and Moskowitz, The Killing of a Chinese Bookie, Tin Men, Dick Tracy, Honeymoon in Vegas, Indecent Proposal, Rushmoor, 61*, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Flight of The Conchords - and, our short film, Pass the Salt, Please.

78 years young today. Watch this clip from PTSP at the Wisconsin Film Festival in 2012. Seymour was a hoot. That pic above? Seymour recounting (to me) his experiences working with friend, John Cassavettes.

Gracious, Keith....and SEAF!

Hi Jeff,

Just wanted to share with you the great audience reaction to your film PASS THE SALT, PLEASE at the Seattle Erotic Art Festival over the past two weekends. I personally attended four screenings of the program your film was part of, and it consistently....generated applause and lots of vocal reaction.

An independent theatre in Bellingham, WA (about 2 hours north of Seattle) has expressed interest in running the SEAF programs at their venue in early October. We'd love to include your film as part of that; more details to follow in the coming weeks.

Thanks for sharing your work with us!

Best,
Keith Bacon

China King Bonn International Short Film Festival.

So our short film, PASS THE SALT, PLEASE, was invited to the China King Bonn International New Media Short Film Festival. Never heard back from the King Bonn folks and the festival, which was in May, came and went without even a peep from the Chinese. No screening date/times - nothing. I finally emailed them and got this response:
Hi Jeff,
I just find your email. I`m so sorry for my later reply. Yes,the 3rd China International New Media Shorts Festival has closed in May. It`s very successful. The Main Section has received 2,733 entries from 63 countries and regions around the globe for the 3rd China International (KingBonn) New Media Shorts Award. Regarding the transaction activity, we have played your film in our festival. Many chinese film makers and producers were interested in it. We have distributed some materials about your film to who attended the festival, including Chinese Media, director and producers. I think they will contact you if they would lke to buy your film.
(Blah, blah, blah....)

I`m looking forward to hearing from you!
Alice Yang
China International New Media Shorts Festival
Course we're interested but I'm stymied as to the lack of communication on the part of some of the festivals we've screened at. One fest in CA never informed us we were in the Gala Top 5 screening. One fest screened our film with another film titled, PASS THE SALT. One fest didn't get us pertinent info our attendees needed until two weeks prior to the festival. The lack of follow-through boggles my mind.
