Passion = Truth? How Jeffrey James Francis Ircink Sees The World? I love when people are passionate about something. That surging of emotion is the one honest measure of what truth is. It's a truthful display of how a person really feels about something or someone at that particular moment. That passion IS truth.

New York Times/CBS Poll...President Obama enjoys edge.

Really? "Enjoys"? I suppose it's a question of semantics. The results covered 33 pages, so let's look a few key pollng stats. And remember, you can fudge stats any number of ways to make them look favorable for whatever side of the fence you're on, so here's the poll in its entirety. This way you can derive your own conclusions.

So the President has a 1% lead on approvals versus disapprovals. That must be the edge Obama should be "enjoying", according to the New York Times' lead-in to the poll results. 51% said they are dissatisfied or angry regarding their feelings about the Obama administration. Hmmm...let's look at some other categories:

62% polled say things are going in the wrong direction for this country. Tell that to Congress - their approval rate is no big surprise, with 75% of the respondents disapproving:

52% disapprove of the way Obama is handling the economy:

And 55% disapprove of the way Obama is handling health care.

58% disapprove of the way Obama is handling the deficit.

81% polled say they do not feel members of Congress deserve re-election. And 46% say the next generation of Americans will be worse off than we are today.

OK. Americans disapprove of the way Obama is handling the economy, health care and the deficit. They think Congress stinks (on the top of the right panel of this blog click on the link to my PRO Party concept and read how I believe Congress can reinvent itself), don't like the direction the country is heading and believe the next generation will be worse off than we are now.

Not "enjoyable" poll results if you ask me. Why aren't the liberal media/bloggers talking about this - or maybe I just missed it?

Goldman Sachs' profit = more bonus payouts?????

You gotta be fucking kidding me.

In the July 12, 2009 New York Times article, "A Swift Return to Lofty Profits", it was reported that Goldman Sachs estimates a $3.44 billion in second quarter earnings, and is preparing its largest bonus payout in history.

David Paul writes in The Huffington Post that perhaps Goldman Sack-of-Shit should be content with tripling its stock value and forego the bonuses. I think pretty much most of America would agree.

The New York Times stated, "Analysts estimate that the bank will set aside enough money to pay a total of $18 billion in compensation and benefits this year to its 28,000 employees, or more than $600,000 an employee. Don't forget, GS was compelled to accept billions of dollars in federal aid, which it paid back last month." Goldman declined to comment over the weekend, pending its Tuesday earnings report.

Has my mad cow disease progressed further than I thought or didn't this country just go through a hubbub over bonuses and overpaid corporate fat cats? Mark my words - the U.S government and the American tax payers helped to keep GS aflloat and instead of opting to not pay bonuses as a sort of "gesture", GS is gonna pay those bonuses. Corporate America bastards.

Remember when Santa smoked in the 1930's?

My brother emailed me a few "questionable" advertisements from the 1930's and I had to chuckle, especially as I have an advertising creative background. Though I never wrote copy encouraging teens to smoke because you'll get laid, I appreciate the task that lay before these ad men from 70+ years ago. Click on READ MORE! to see the rest.

On a related note, I've watched the first three episodes of the new TNT series, Trust Me, starring Thomas Cavanagh and Eric McCormack. I was drawn to the show because it's set at an advertising agency in Chicago (the ad agency part, not the Chicago part), much like I was drawn to Thirtysomething or Mad Men (John Hamm still doesn't know how to smoke a ciggie like a real smoker = my one beef).

The only issue I have is with Cavanagh's character. He's a fast-talking copywriter who most certainly is dripping with ADHD, and is guilt of creating a page of dialogue for a simple "yes" or "no" comment because he won't shut the fuck UP! I thought, 'maybe it's me'.

Check out these reviews from the New York Times, Hollywood Reporter, Washington Post, New York Magazine and Variety. It's not "me".

I'm keeping my eyes on NY Times/Village Voice columnist Alex Barra. He's a known douche bag.

I've blogged about Alex Bare-ass before. Search the topics list on the right panel, bottom. His latest is here - on why it's Brett Favre's fault - and only Brett's fault - that the New York Jets went downhill the last 5 games of the season.

Read it. It's as if Brett was (were?) the only guy playing for the Jets those last 5 games. But boy, oh, boy...don't say that Brett was the only one who helped get the Jets to 8-3. Nope. THAT was a team effort. Winning is (ask RB Thomas Jones). Losing is all Brett's fault.

So I comment on douche bag's article (hit the "publish" button one too many times and it printed 4x). Here's an excerpt, go to the article and read everyone's comments (most disagree with the lunatic).

So, lo and behold, Bare-ass actually makes a comment on his own article - and mentions me (like I care).

Listen you arrogant prick...Jeffrey Ircink is my real name, asshole! You couldn't make up that last name if you tried. And if I wanted to use a "handle" I would've used "belairjeff" or a nickname like "monkeyboy" or "bareassisadouche"...you know, something that sounds made up. Bare-ass easily dismisses stats and facts that don't back up his argument, and he doesn't pay attention to what others write because he doesn't even see that my name IS at the end of my posts - all 5 of them!

So then I respond back:

I have yet to hear back. He's a busy man - being a douche-pig and all. If we were living in 14th century Scotland right now, I would get my 4-foot Scottish claymore and cleave Bare-ass' head from his fat body so fast...well, I would just do it really fast. Then I'd eat some haggis (using Bare-ass' stomach, of course), play the pipes and have sex with a Scottish lass while singing tunes from "Brigadoon".

New York Times poll suggests the America is "on the wrong track"

Americans are more dissatisfied with the country’s direction than at any time since the New York Times/CBS News poll began asking about the subject in the early 1990s, according to the latest poll.

In the poll, 81 percent of respondents said they believed that “things have pretty seriously gotten off on the wrong track,” up from 69 percent a year ago and 35 percent in early 2003.

Although the public mood has been darkening since the early days of the war in Iraq, it has taken a new turn for the worse in the last few months, as the economy has seemed to slip into recession. There is now nearly a national consensus that the country faces significant problems.
