Passion = Truth? How Jeffrey James Francis Ircink Sees The World? I love when people are passionate about something. That surging of emotion is the one honest measure of what truth is. It's a truthful display of how a person really feels about something or someone at that particular moment. That passion IS truth.

Favre. #500 TD pass/70,000 passing yards (in a loss to the Jets)! Vikings, 1-3

What do you do when your team (Minnesota Vikings) only plays a 1/4 of a game of football?

Vikes got beat by the New York Jets, 29-20, in a torrential, rain-delayed Monday Night game yesterday. I'm at a loss for words. The Vikes are now 1-3 and face Dallas (1-3) at home Sunday. Two powerhouses who are struggling. One team's gonna be in really deep shit after next week's game.

Aside from Brett Favre's milestones of reaching 70,000 yards passing and his 500th TD (he had 3 on the night), the offense sputtered for most of the game. See Favre to Randy Moss for No. 500 here. Percy Harvin had two nice TDs...all for naught. Dammit!

From Daily Norseman: "The First Three and a Half Quarters: It was the most inept play calling I have ever seen. Can you, or anyone, tell me what the hell Bevell and Childress were thinking? The players sure didn’t. Said Percy Harvin: "If we had come out and had some of the play calling we had in the second half, I think it would be a different outcome."

Said Favre (pulled from Kevin Seifert’s excellent NFC North Blog on ESPN): Favre said he was "thinking aloud" when he suggested that Childress and Bevell were trying to find something that worked. "Sometimes you go in with a plan and it doesn't really work out that way," Favre said, noting the Vikings found a "happy medium" during a second half in which he threw for 233 yards.

Daily Norseman: So I go back to my point that I made earlier about Childress or Bevell: It’s either stubbornness or stupidity at this point. They’re not dumb guys; at least they don’t come off as such. So it must be stubbornness. Either way, the maddening inability to change gameplans on the fly will doom this team if they don’t get it fixed. I’m all about just letting Favre play sandlot football, and see what happens. It can’t be any worse than that craptastic game plan we saw last night, can it? Can it?

Favre on Fire. SI Cover. 1.25.10.

Let's hope he and the Vikes STAY on fire. I make no predictions. Far as I'm concerned, the NFC Championship is anyone's to grab. Just want a good game and for the Minnesota Vikings to play the best game they're capable of.

Although I find it odd that the date on this issue is Monday, the day after the NFC Championship game. Favre may be doing another one of these (see above cover) or something completely different (which we won't discuss right now).

I did a blog post back in 2008 that featured all the Sports Illustrated covers that Brett Favre graced. But I missed a few. Some came after the original post and I missed a few. The one's I missed are below. The other 9 can be seen here. By my count, that's 14 total. OK - I'm done. SKOL FAVRE! SKOL VIKINGS!!

Kaeding. Cromartie. Tsk, tsk. Shame on both of you.

San Diego Chargers' kicker Nate Kaeding (top), one of the most accurate kickers in the NFL, missed 3 - THREE field goals in a loss to the New York Jets Sunday. Come on, man! (I kinda felt sorry for the guy)

Cornerback Antonio Cromartie, also of the Chargers, watched - and I mean stood there and watched - a Jets' running back fly through the Chargers' defensive line. Cromartie proceeds to chase after said Jets' running back all the way to the end zone, then jacks him in the shoulder - in the end zone. Funny that he couldn't have jacked him while he was breaking through your line, Antone. Come on, man! (I didn't feel sorry for this guy)

This guy I worked with in Los Angeles - Robert Yu, big Charger fan - wigged out and threw a punch at me last year. Totally out of left field and for no reason. What comes around goes around, Mr. Yu. Your beloved, San Diego Chargers, my ex-friend, laid a big deuce at home. Have a sickenly great off-season, jerk-off.

Triplevision Favre.

Favre with the Vikings. Favre with the Jets (retro unis). Favre with the Pack. I just thought this was nice - for those of you who can't get enough of #4. Does it kill you, Packer fans - to see Brett in that purple? God - your life has just taken a downturn spiral, hasn't it?

Minnesota ain't sore at Favre, says Bob Viking of Portage. Neither was I.

My brother sent me this letter that appeared in the Wednesday, July 29 edition of the Wisconsin State Journal.

Reader views: Favre, the merits of Madison, dachshund-eating wolves

"Favre respectful of Minnesota's offer - Again the slams against Brett Favre from State Journal sports columnist Tom Oates. Put it to rest. Minnesota's not upset. Speaking as a former Minnesotan, we would have loved to have him, but he didn't sign. End of story, no drama hold out. It would have been great for Minnesota. I think your problem is rooted in the way Favre was mistreated by Packer general manager Ted Thompson. Since you don't want to blame Thompson, you've been on Favre's case since they booted him. Go back and see how he was mistreated by "your team." That's where the disgust is and will always be. Years from now all that will be remembered is him being kicked out of Wisconsin. Minnesotans wish him well. He didn't lead us on and he made a timely decision. The Vikings asked him to come, not the other way around, but he couldn't do it. End of story in Minnesota, but not in Wisconsin. Your team mistreated him and that's your state's legacy. Live with that forever. - Bob Viking, Portage

Well put, Bob Viking from Portage.

Personally, I took Favre not coming out of retirement and joining the Vikings as a selfless act. No? Won't give Favre that credit, eh? Brett's too much of a egotistical diva to be selfless? Funny - he wasn't selfish the 16 years he spent at Green Bay, helping to bring the Packers out of the doldrums of the 70's and 80's.

Favre stringing the Vikings along? Come on. Favre is friends with Minnesota Coach Brad Childress - Childress himself said Brett was honest the entire time they spoke about the possibility of Favre becoming a Viking. No hard feelings. And the Vikes pursued Favre.

I'm sure Brett thought about his legacy and the fact that if his body wouldn't hold up for an entire season he'd look foolish. But I'm not going to try and surmise what was going through Brett's head. You're the mind readers - I'll let you do that. But the Vikings were a perfect fit for him - maybe one of the best scenarios he could have EVER walked into. I believe Brett also considered the fact that if his body failed him, he'd also disappoint the team and Childress and Favre didn't want that either. Brett needed to start just two more games to surpass the all-time consecutive starts record (he holds the record for QB's). He could've added to the NFL records he already has. He could've made around $10 million. He could've played the game he loved and basked in the glory one more year. But he chose not to, that egotistical bastard.

Who's to say he doesn't change his mind halfway through training camp? Who's to say some QB goes down hurt and the Favre phone rings midway through the NFL season? I don't know. You don't know. Favre doesn't know. And so what if he does? Am I delusional? Is it possible that I can't be objective? Whatever. I feel good that I supported him through his departure from Green Bay, while he was playing with the New York Jets and while he is retired. Those of you who rip on Favre for being a diva, for being selfish, for being an egotist are the same people who are cheering that he didn't sign with Minnesota. Self-righteous bastards. Now who's selfish? If you disagree with me that's your problem, not mine. If your opinion of Favre has changed since he left Green Bay, that's your problem not mine.

Remember one thing - all Favre wanted to do was play the game he loved. He didn't kill dogs, shoot people, do illegal drugs, or cheap shot guys on the field. So hold it against him - that he wanted to just play ball. No one gave the game more. And he did it his way, no matter what the media or the fans or his critics said about him. Not sure how many times I heard, "Ircink, you were a Favre fan and not a Packer fan...don't ever cheer for the Pack again; you're a bandwagon fan". Fine. Then I don't wanna hear YOU ever praise Favre again. Matter of fact, I don't even want to hear the name "Brett Favre" come from your lips. 'Cause that would make you just as much of a fair weather fan of Favre's as you say I am of the Pack. While you languished since the Packer divorce, I relished in seeing Favre play one more season - and a pretty good season it was before he tore his bicep tendon. Talk of SB. You languished. Not me. Not once. You bitched and cried. I cheered.

Your problem - not mine. Or Brett's. So kiss my ass.

Favre to remain retired. Dammit.

Favre told the Minnesota Vikings today that he will remain retired.

ESPN's Ed Werder said that Favre's decision not to play for the Vikings was incredibly difficult, and in the process he indicated that he is unlikely to ever considering playing again in the NFL. "It was the hardest decision I've ever made,'' Favre said. "I didn't feel like physically I could play at a level that was acceptable. I would like to thank everyone, including the Packers, Jets and Vikings -- but, most importantly, the fans."

Favre, who had shoulder surgery in May, experienced soreness in both ankles and his left knee during his private workouts in Mississippi. The pain would not subside and worsened as he continued to prepare for a potential 19th NFL season, which Favre considered proof that his health was too precarious to be trusted for a 16-game season.

"I had to be careful not to commit for the wrong reasons,'' Favre said. "They were telling me, 'You went through all this, you had the surgery and you've got to finish it off.' But I have legitimate reasons for my decision. I'm 39 with a lot of sacks to my name."

Here are just a few of Favre's NFL records:

consecutive starts by a QB = 269 (291 including playoffs, 2nd all-time)
wins = 169
completions = 5720
attempts = 9280
pass yards = 65, 127
pass TD = 464
ints = 310

Retired future Hall of Famer Brett Favre "released" by New York Jets Tuesday.

At his request, the New York Jets released Brett Favre on Tuesday night from the "reserve/retired" list. Favre’s statement on Tuesday said in part: “Nothing has changed. At this time, I am retired and have no intention of returning to football.”

It's been since last season that I've blogged much about Brett. Check my archives. He's retired. I'm giving him some breathing room. Anyway, I'm a big fan - boycotted the Packers after 44 years and followed the Jets last season. Now that the Jets have cut all ties with Favre, I'm not saying Brett will come back. Odds are this time his retirement is for real. But...he unretired last year, too. And now Brett could sign with any team — the Jets would receive no compensation and would not be penalized if Brett unretired and went to Minnesota.

Minnesota was interested in Brett last year, but the Packers did not want Favre playing in their own division (thus, the clause in the Jets' trade). The Vikings' owner has said they are not interested in Favre "at this time". And "at this time", the Vikings QB situation is very much up in the air.

"At this time" can mean a lot of things to a lot of different people. I've already read numerous sports columns giving Favre shit about his above statement because he said the same thing when he retired from the Green Bay Packers the season before last - "at this time". You never know. I believe Favre can still play ball, especially if he had that torn bicep repaired. Hell, I never would've thought this country's Homeland Security chief Janet "Neapolitan" would've said that crossing the border is not a crime (per se) during an interview about illegal aliens. But "at this time", she did. So if Favre unretired a 2nd time, wouldn't faze me a bit.

If Brett changes his mind, who cares? If he wants to play, so what? And if he's contend being retired, I'm fine with that as well. Let him worry about his legacy. I'm not - ever.

Guest Instructor Mr. Favre? (But I thought Mangini hated Favre, Jeff?)

Former New York Jets Coach Eric Mangini - now Cleveland Browns head coach - told the New York Daily News that he and Favre have been text messaging since they last saw each other December 29, the day the Jets fired Mangini and the day after Favre played his final NFL game. ... "I don't think it would be anything formal," Mangini told the newspaper. "It's not like we are hiring him to run the scout team. I don't think he would be interested in that. He would be more like a visitor. An open invite."

Mangini brought in a ton of motivational speakers while he was at the Jets. I guess this squelches the talk about Favre and Mangini not liking each other, eh...you bunch of dumb assholes (I'm talking to you, Teddy Atlas!).

"We had a legitimately good relationship," Mangini said. "He's a good guy. I like Brett a lot. That was a tough situation for him to come into and I thought he handled it incredibly well."

Even a retired Favre gets the goats at FoxSports.com

Why is this even listed among FoxSports.com's list of Most Embarrassing Sports Records? FoxSports says part of this is due to Favre's longevity. Then they say he was a prolific passer, and "though he finished with 464 TD passes"...why bother? They also say he led the league 2x with INTs. Yeh - out of 18 seasons.

Seems they forgot to list Cy Young's pitching loss record (he also has the most wins) or Reggie Jackson's most strikeouts record. But this is Brett Favre, folks - and we all know FoxSports.com hates it when Favre succeeds. Why? 'Cause they only ever write about him when he fails at something.

Plus, I think it's presumptuous of FoxSports.com to assume all these records are "embarrassing". I don't think Favre is "embarrassed" by his INT record. Like I said earlier - goes with playing 18 years in the league. I think he'd rather not have thrown that many INTs. But is he "embarrassed" by it? I'm guessing "no".

Can I say it or will you? Douche bags.

(As an aside, I read recently that someone looked back at all the INTs Favre had and whoever did this counted 145 that were IN the hands of his receivers and DROPPED by his receivers.)

(Another aside, for those of you not as enlightened, Favre owns numerous NFL records, among them: Consecutive starts by a quarterback: 269 (291 including playoffs), Games started by a quarterback: 269 (291 including playoffs), Career regular-season victories by a starting quarterback: 169, Career passing touchdowns: 464, Career passing yards: 65,127, Career pass completions: 5,720, Career pass attempts: 9,280, Career games with at least three touchdowns: 65, and one of only two players to win 3 MVP awards. With all these and many more, I wouldn't be embarrassed if had the most INTs either.).

Favre's reaction to Favre's retirement.

“Why now? It wasn’t going to change, really. Two months from now, I would probably have the same doubts or questions, and that’s not the way I want to play.”

“Physically, for the most part, I feel the same. Aside from the most important thing, and that’s my throwing shoulder. Progressively, it got worse throughout the year...That very well could be fine next year. And I’m well aware of that. But then again, it could linger and bother me throughout the year, and I just felt like it was time. More than anything, that was the wake-up call.”

“I have no reason to wonder why you would be so skeptical? (joking) And I’m sure, because I have friends and family, ‘All right, Brett, is this the real deal? And it is. It is. Believe me. It has been a wonderful career. I couldn’t ask for anything more. It’s time to leave.”

“Physically, if I felt better, we might not be having this conversation. But that is, more than anything, the writing on the wall.”

“I have no idea what I’m going to do, and I’m fine with that. Right now, I have no desire to do anything.”

By the way, what NFL team will I be rooting for next season?

I boycotted the Green Bay Packers after 44 years when they traded Favre. Now Brett retired again after one season with the New York Jets.

I won't go back to the Pack until GM Ted Thompson is gone. So where does that leave me? Tom? Got an answer? Todd? Anyone? Buehler?

Jets' Statements by Owner, GM and Coach On Favre's retirement.

WOODY JOHNSON - Owner
"I had a great conversation with Brett this morning. Considering that he came from a totally different environment and joined our team during training camp, his performance last season was extraordinary. As I spoke with people throughout the organization, they all told me how much they enjoyed working with him. Brett Favre is a Hall of Fame player, but he is also a Hall of Fame person. Brett, Deanna and his family will always be a part of the Jets' family."

MIKE TANNENBAUM - General Manager
"When we acquired Brett, we knew we would get everything he had. He took the time to mentor younger players and his competitiveness and enthusiasm at practice and during games was contagious. I spoke with him this morning and told him that he will be a friend of the Jets for years to come and it was an honor to work with him."

REX RYAN - New Coach
"It was an honor to coach against Brett over the years. If he’s not the best quarterback ever, then he’s certainly in the conversation. I have great admiration for him as a player and a person. I wish him only the best in his life after football."

"I like Brett," says Colin Cowherd.

Listening to ESPN radio on the drive in to work this morning, Colin Cowherd said of any sports figure, he'd pick Brett Favre to sit down and have a beer with. In describing Favre, Cowherd said three words come to mind: "I like Brett."

This - coming on Favre's annoucement this morning that he's retiring. And this - coming from a guy who called Favre a "coach killer" after the 2008 NFL season. Gotta hate the media, huh?

Favre tells the Jets he's retiring.

Surprise? Not a surprise?

"In talks with the team brass this morning, Favre told the Jets that he did not want to hold the team hostage and while he still thinks he can play, he felt it was the right decision." This from FoxSports.com.

So, do I trust the Jay Glazer and the morons at FoxSports.com? It was first reported by ESPN (come on, Jay, you're losing your touch). Will Favre pull a fast one and un-retire again? Hmm.

"Mike and Woody, as well as the entire organization, have been nothing short of outstanding,'' Favre said in the e-mail. "My teammates -- Thomas and Kerry included -- were a pleasure to play with. Eric [Mangini] could not have been any better. I enjoyed playing for him. My time with the Jets was short, but I'm honored to be given that chance.”

Read the ESPN story here. If you're no stranger to PASSION = TRUTH, you know how I feel about Brett. Let's just leave it at that.

I'm prepared to have my bagel order screwed up this morning at Winchell's. THAT would be the 3rd part of my "bad news" trifecta in less than 24 hours.

dot, dash dash, dot dash dot...Ray Lewis wants to play with Favre!

This just in from the Pro Bowl in Hawaii...Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis spoke highly of New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan this week during Pro Bowl festivities in Hawaii and showed interest in joining Gang Green - with Brett Favre's return weighing heavily on the linebacker's interest.

Lewis spoke to the NFL Network yesterday afternoon about his options for the upcoming season, hinting that Favre returning would be a factor in swaying him to sign with the Jets since it would have the Jets in a win-now mode. "If they're saying we are going to go after Brett, then that's when I am going to make a phone call."

"The slings and arrows suffered by QB Brett Favre". Or "KISS MY ASS!".

I've been meaning to address this but lost track of time. And I know I have a habit of repeating myself, but I've done that since I was 9. So you may have read a few of these items in other posts but I wanted to put them all under one heading - the KISS MY ASS post.

It was reported by several sources (including the douches at FoxSports.com) that "unnamed sources" said Brett Favre didn't participate in off-field activities and that he kept to himself AND that THAT contributed to the fact that he and the other players didn't gel. What? Here's a summary article from Sporting News on some of the slings and arrows thrown in the path of New York Jets' QB Brett Favre after the Jets went from 8-3 and a possible play-off berth to 9-7, losing to Miami in their final game (meaningless loss, as both New England and Baltimore won). Click on the links within the above-mentioned article for more information.

Didn't gel? Here's the article written in Sporting News about Brett's chemistry with the Jets. Jets' tackle Damien Woody said Brett had just what the Jets needed: "Every championship team that I've ever been on, the one constant was that the chemistry was there," he said. "You've got to have the right chemistry in the locker room. I've been on teams that have been talented but we didn't have the chemistry and it just didn't come together...That's one thing I love about this locker room. We've got really good chemistry and it's only going to get better and I think that's going to carry us a long way this season."

And suddenly it's all Brett's fault that the chemistry disappeared as the Jets' team went 1-4 at the end of the season? Gimme a break. Offensive Coordinator Brian Schottenheimer stated recently, "I never got that sense (on if he sensed there was a lack of chemistry between Favre and his teammates). The way the offensive guys worked, prepared and interacted in the meetings was very professional and also light and loose. I never got that sense. If asked about that, I would not have thought anything other than what I witnessed."

Brett not getting along with teammates? An "anonymous" Jet said Brett Favre had been a "distant" presence in the locker room, according to a Newsday reporter. "There was a lot of resentment in the room about him," the anonymous teammate told Newsday. "He never socialized with us, never went to dinner with anyone." So what. That statement says nothing about Brett. Brett not having dinner with guys affected their play? If that's the case, maybe those players shouldn't be in the NFL. Jets' Center Nick Mangold took issue with the perception that Favre caused any dissension. "We had a good joking and playful banter, but at the same time, he's 39 and I'm 24 , and I'm not expecting him to come over and get a game of Halo in right after practice," Mangold said, referencing the video-game series. As for the charge the anonymous player made about Favre not going to dinner with teammates, Mangold stated, "The reality is he was just going home to be with his kids," he said. "There's a huge difference with that ."

There was also talk Brett spent a lot of time in a private office. Yeh - well, that's what a QB does when he's played under one offense for 16 years...trying to learn the Jets' offense, you dumb asses.

On Bill Cowher shunning the Jets coaching job because he wants no part of coaching Favre? No one ever proved that assertion. One of Cowher's stipulations was that he wanted to bring in his own personnel AND he was fairly certain he wanted to wait to coach until 2010.

In that same Sporting News article, Teddy Atlas claimed (Atlas is a boxing trainer/motivational speaker/special asst. coach/douche bag and friend of Coach Eric Mangini) that Jets owner Woody Johnson "forced" the trade on Mangini, and called Favre "basically a selfish guy", AND that Mangini and Favre had a strained relationship. Mangini denied all of that once he took the Browns' coaching job...as a matter of fact, here's exactly what Mangini stated about his relationship with the Jets. What does "strained" mean anyway? Did Mangini and Favre perhaps disagree on some things? Probably. But it's funny how Mangini could have such a strained relationship with Brett so much so that he (Mangini) named his 3rd son after Brett.

Mangini: "I really enjoyed my time with Brett. I think Brett's obviously a Hall of Fame quarterback. He came into a really challenging situation. I respected how important it was for him to be one of the guys, to fit into the team. I really liked the time that I spent with him...There were definitely things that I could have done better as a head coach. There were definitely things that the coaches could have done better. There were definitely things that we could have done better as a group of players...But it's never one person, it's never one play. It's everybody collectively doing a better job than we did during that stretch.''

I know. "Well what's Mangini gonna say?". Well Teddy Atlas isn't Eric Mangini and I know for a FACT that THIS is what Mangini said. Atlas' comment is heresay and, therefore, douche-esque.

When all is said and done, Jets' owner Mike Tannebaum, new Jets' Coach Rex Ryan and offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer all said they want Brett back. Now you can say, "well that's what they SAY NOW, but..." Fine. But THEY SAID IT. Not an anonymous source. No unnamed sources. So don't listen to half-ass media reports or knee-jerk reactions by one or two players who shouldn't be mouthing off in the first place. If Brett decides to come back, he has a place with the Jets and we'll all know about it when he makes his decision.

All that other bullshit? Has nothing to do with anything. Just mindless dribble to get noticed. It's just LOAD TALK.

NFL Toilet Bowl End-of-the-Year Nods! And the DOUCHE of the Year Award!

"Let the she-harlots and the he-harlots be prudent!...Let the preachers of creeds never dare to go meditate upon the hills, alone, by day or by night! (If one ever once dare, he is lost!) Let insanity have charge of sanity!"

Walt Whitman said that back in 1856. Basically, what he was alluding to was that the media are douche bags. Not suprisingly, most of my end-of-the-year rips involve the media for their biased, half-cocked reporting intent only on raising my blood pressure. Whores. Most of them.

1. Phil Sims stated that had the New York Jets kept Chad Pennington, the Jets would've went 10-6. Well Phil, you can't say that because you don't know for a fact that that would've happened. And if you have some magic ball stuffed up your ass and you KNOW that the Jets' record would've been better with Pennington, how come you didn't predict your son, Chris, would be a bust as a QB in the NFL. DOUCHE!

2. Adam Schein, of FoxSports.com - Almost every one of the writers at FoxSports.com are douche bags so let's get that outta the way right off the bat. Schein said Favre was his NFL Flop of the Year, and yet, nowhere on the flop list was Plaxico "I shot myself in the leg with my own gun" Burress on the list though. Schein and all the other dickshine's at FoxSports.com have an axe to grind with Favre for whatever reason. Year before last, Schein said Favre should retire. Then he jumps on Favre's bandwagon last season as the Packers go 13-3 in the regular season. Then he praises Favre up through the Jets' 8-3...then jumps off the bandwagon AGAIN. DUKE of the DOUCHE!

3. Alex Marvez, another FoxSports.com writer who wrote "Mangini has Favre to thank for pink slip" . As I've said time and time again, you can't say that Brett wasn't the only reason the Jets got to 8-3, then say HE IS the only reason they went 1-4 in they're last 5. You can't bitch about how unfair it is that the QB gets all the credit when a team wins, then turn around and blame JUST the QB when they lose (in most cases).

For those of you who are deaf, let me repeat: The Jets' defense went from 28 sacks in the first 8 games to 12 in the last 8. The Jets' defense was ranked the 4th worst in allowing passing yards PER GAME and for the ENTIRE SEASON. And even with a sub-par defense, one that showed up to play maybe 2 complete games all season, Favre and the offense put up the 3rd highest number of points in Jets' history. As for Mangini, even when the Jets were 8-3, I questioned many of his calls. It's the NFL - coaches get the boot. That's the way it is.

But you don't see those stats blarring out at you from the Let's-Rip-Favre-A-New-One articles, do you? Hey, I'm not the one who was crowning the Jets "Kings of New York" and yapping about a Jets-Giants Super Bowl. That was the NY media and the NY fans. Their pie holes - not mine.

OK - there's 14 more. So click on READ MORE! to find out who the DOUCHE OF THE YEAR goes to. Come on...they're all funny.

4. Debbie Goffa, associate sports editor at the Los Angeles Times - In her column, "Wake up call...Favre", she stated, "It wasn't Mangini who threw those three interceptions Sunday. Or those 22 interceptions for the season."

Hey, I liked Mangini. But during the Seattle game, Pro Bowler Leon Washington had 3 carries in 60 offensive plays. He's the most prolific player on the team. That Favre's fault too? And the Mangini-Favre INT connection doesn't even make sense. DOUCHE and a BITCH.

5. Teddy Atlas - a special assistant coach to the New York Jets who said Favre - well who the fuck cares what a boxing coach said anyway. DOUCHE! Though I do recall that FoxSports.com had a men's college basketball columnist pen something about the NFL - and you guessed it...it was a rip on Favre. I guess any Fox will hire any talking asshole with an opinion.

6. Jason Whitlock, FoxSports.com - I've ripped on Glazer, Marvez, Schein, and most of the dolts at FoxSports.com, but never Whitlock. He's one of the writers I've always enjoyed. He was on Favre's side at the beginning of the season. Then this sorry ass jumped off the ship and joined the other bandwagon sports columnists who are the biggest flip-floppers of anyone because they never show any allegiance in the articles. And don't tell me they can't because they're supposed to be objective. They're certainly not objective when they gang up one player all year long and ride his ass for no apparent reason, are they?

The other thing that pissed me off about Whitlock is he used unsubstantiated information by Jay Glazer, also of FoxSports.com and another DOUCHE, and quoted it in his commentary as if it were the Gospel truth. He didn't even say, 'Jay Glazer's unnamed source...' He said,

"To make matters worse, we learned from Jay Glazer that Favre didn't enjoy playing for Eric Mangini because the Jets coach had the audacity to question Favre's decision-making in front of teammates." What Whitlock didn't write was that all the sources were unnamed and Mangini said that that was not true. Tell me, if Mangini and Favre didn't like each other and were constantly at each other's throats, why did Mangini give his newborn son the middle name, Brett? Whitlock = DOUCHE!

(Whitlock also picked Indy in the preseason to go to the SB. Sports writers and commentators making predictions is a big DOUCHE attribute.)

7. Allen Barra(ass) who writes for The New York Times and the Village Voice. In his article, "Mangini wasn't the problem - Favre is", idiot blamed the Jets failure at the end of the season solely on Favre. He hates Brett. Has never written anything kindly about him and never popped his head up once while the Jets went 8-3 but as soon as they faltered, Bare-ass was there. Big, fat BARON DOUCHE!

So I wrote a retort to Bare-ass' spewage - I blogged about it here. The man accused me of not using my real name when, in fact, JEFF IRCINK is written at the bottom of all my comments. Bare-ass gets a 2nd DOUCHE for trying to assassinate my character.

8. Mike Vandermouse of The Green Bay Gazette (mause) - Wrote an article at the end of the regular season (one of about 50) about how the Packers made the right decision in trading Favre. How many stories is this dumbass gonna write about how the Packers trading Favre was a good deal??? Enough. Not that I agree with him (I don't), but one story - at the end of the season - would've been sufficient. DOUCHE!

9. Thomas Jones, Jets' running back - Said Favre should've been benched during the Miami game (last game of season) when, in fact, the AFC leading running back only had 23 yards on 10 carries during the Miami game, AND in his last 4 games, his highest yardage was 68. DOUCHE! He later "softened" his initial comment with another comment. You know what, Thomas, if you really believed what you said in the first place, there'd be no need to come out and issue a 2nd, softening comment, you dumb ass. Jones scored just two touchdowns all season in 2007 with Pennington as QB. This year, he had 9 before the Titans game. It's one thing to call out a teammate (didn't Favre get ripped for that when he said Javon Walker needs to honor his contract and play ball while at Green Bay?), but let he who is perfect cast the first stone. So shut up, Jones. A DOUCHE and a SHAME ON YOU, JONES!

10. Mark Kreigel, FoxSports.com. - "I want this man to die." That's the article I ran on Kreigel this year after the Jets lost to the Chargers early in the season. What else can I say? I do. Notice that none of the fuckwads from FoxSports.com EVER come out with an article praising Favre for a game. They always wait in the shadows 'til Favre screws up.

11. Jay Glazer, again...FoxSports.com - You'd think I'd tire of calling out the idiots at FoxSports.com. Glazer's the douche that broke the story that Favre was supposedly giving Detroit Lions plays right out of the Green Bay playbook. Here's my story on Bleacher Report, calling Glazer a "rat". Later, FoxSports.com ran a poll asking it's readers, "Do you trust Jay Glazer or ESPN?" (who said their unnamed sources stated the Favre story was not true) and the choice they gave readers was "Jay" and "Jay". Nice, biased, reporting, assholes (they later changed the poll because people like me bitched about it, see it here).

12. New York Giant Plaxico Burress - for shooting himself in the leg at a nightclub. DUMBFUCK FELON DOUCHE.

13. Pittsburgh Steeler James Harrison - NFL Defensive Player of the Year and Super Bowl Champion - unsportsmanlike conduct, flagged for hitting an Arizona player who was already down on the ground, FELON DOUCHE.

14. Jets pummelling of the Arizona Cardinals - To all those who said, "yeh, but it was Arizona", kiss my ass. I wrote this shortly after the game. You're all DOUCHES.

Who did I forget? Now these people ARE NOT douches. Me, Maria and Donovan and Baby Grace. Their #1 team is Denver - then it's Favre. So they boycotted the Green Bay Packers along with me and my brother and we followed the Jets. GO JETS! GO FAVRE!

Wait - almost forgot...

15. NFL Rule Change #1 - The NFL should allow ALL CALLS by refs to be challenged. Each team still gets the same amount of challenges so it can not slow the game down. Why is one subjective holding call or pass interference call or early blown whistle any less subjective than the calls that are challengeable now?

16. NFL Rule Change #2 - Get rid of the Tuck Rule. A rule is supposed to help clearly map out what the infraction is, but no one can seem to determine when this rule is or isn't being broken. Hey, if the QB loses the ball, he loses the ball. It's a fumble. Shut up about it. Talk about a rule that prolongs the game.

17. Hold on...Boomer Esiason said something really dumb about Favre this season so he's a OUCHE too. Don't remember what it was. I think I named Boomer a douche last year - like many of these other douche bags on the list. Hey, if you're gonna be a douche bag, you might as well be consistent.

18. But the DOUCHE OF THE YEAR Award goes to the my beloved ex-Green Bay Packers (management), not just for trading Favre, but for the PR debacle that followed. Nice job, McCarthy, Murphy and Thompson (aka 3 Wise Monkeys). You went from a 14-4 team and one win from the Super Bowl last year to a 6-10 team this season. And Packer fans who supported the Favre traded said the same thing Simms said about the Jets - the Packers wouldn't have finished any better with Favre at QB. Again, you can't say that because you can't know what WOULD HAVE HAPPENED, you dumb, cheese-eating, motherfuckers (I can say that 'cause I'm from WI). The Green Bay Packers management (not the players) are truly are the CROWN PRINCES OF THE DOUCHES! And Murphy had the gaul to say Thompson did a "masterful" job of handling the debacle. Someone please shoot all 3 of those idiots.

And congrats to the Steelers for their Super Bowl win. A guy I used to work with in Cedar Rapids is a big Steeler fan and I'm sure he's very happy right now. GO JETS in 2009! Or whichever team Favre plays for (if he plays) next season.
