Passion = Truth? How Jeffrey James Francis Ircink Sees The World? I love when people are passionate about something. That surging of emotion is the one honest measure of what truth is. It's a truthful display of how a person really feels about something or someone at that particular moment. That passion IS truth.

1250 ESPN's The Big Show is a big dud.

So these bozos from ESPN 1250 in Milwaukee were all over the Packers' shit at the beginning of the season. After all, Green Bay was chosen by many to go to the Super Bowl. Then Green Bay got hit with a rash of injuries - 14 or 15 players on IR - including their starting RB and TE. Something like that. So these yahoos jump off the Packer bandwagon, touting how they're done sipping the Kool Aid and are resolved to look forward to the next season.

Then the Pack started winning again and are now in the Super Bowl. Suddenly these jerk-offs are back on the Packer bandwagon.

I get shit for boycotting the Packers when they wouldn't take Favre back three seasons ago. I get shit for following Favre to the Jets and the Vikings. I get shit for not being a "team" player and following one player. At least I stuck by my guy. What about the chumps from The Big Show?? They're credibility is shot. Spanks.

Favre out, then in, then out again. Bears beat Vikes. Favre = ratings boom! Vikes, 5-9.

First drive of the Monday Night game against the Chicago Bears. 5-7 for 63 yards, one TD, one INT (tipped ball) then knocked out in 2nd quarter with a concussion.

First Favre's designated as OUT 90 minutes before the start of the game and then suddenly he's QUESTIONABLE and then he's ACTIVE and starts the game. Remember, his consecutive game streak of 297 regular season games (321 w/playoffs) came to a close last week when he failed to start due to a shoulder injury he received the week before .

Favre's no stranger to high football ratings. This particular ESPN MNF game was the biggest show on TV Monday night with a 1.6 rating or 17.1 million viewers. The highest-rated MNF game on ESPN, and the highest-rated program in U.S. cable television history to date, was the Minnesota Vikings' defeat of the Green Bay Packers 30–23 on October 5, 2009, with a rating of 15.3. "The game featured the much-hyped matchup of Vikings quarterback Brett Favre facing his longtime former Green Bay team. ESPN noted in a press release that the telecast "was watched by more than 16.8 million people."

Here are the Top 10 Most-Viewed Programs in Cable Television History (Viewers in 000s, purple designates the game involved Brett Favre):

1. 10/05/2009 Green Bay Packers-Minnesota Vikings ESPN 21,839
2. 11/30/2009 New England Patriots-New Orleans Saints ESPN 21,402
3. 09/15/2008 Philadelphia Eagles-Dallas Cowboys ESPN 18,608
4. 10/25/2010 New York Giants-Dallas Cowboys ESPN 17,953
5. 12/03/2007 New England Patriots-Baltimore Ravens ESPN 17,522
6. 09/27/2010 Green Bay Packers-Chicago Bears ESPN 17,454

9. 12/20/2010 Chicago Bears-Minnesota Vikings ESPN 17,094
10. 12/28/2009 Minnesota Vikings-Chicago Bears ESPN 17,006

Brett Favre accounts for HALF of the most-viewed cable TV programs in history. And who said No. 4 ain't good for the NFL? SKOL FAVRE! SKOL VIKINGS!

Shirley, you can't be serious?

I lashed out at Paul Shirley once in a tweet. He said Guns & Roses was better than the Beatles.

So one could say the recent news about Shirley is karma. Or it's bad voodoo (as his firing centered around Haiti). Such as it is, ex-NBA'er and blogger, Paul Shirley penned a tongue-lashing article regarding the aid that's being sent to Haiti and got fired today from ESPN (he was a part-time contributor). Makes sense. The firing, that is.

But what exactly did Shirley say in his blog post? Read it here. For those of you who don't like to click on links within posts, I've reproduced Shirley's fabricated "letter to the Haitians" which was the crux of Shirley's firing from ESPN:

Dear Haitians –

First of all, kudos on developing the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Your commitment to human rights, infrastructure, and birth control should be applauded. As we prepare to assist you in this difficult time, a polite request: If it’s possible, could you not re-build your island home in the image of its predecessor? Could you not resort to the creation of flimsy shanty- and shack-towns? And could some of you maybe use a condom once in a while?

Sincerely,

The Rest of the World

The people of Haiti are hurting. Even the collective IQ's of Heidi & Spencer, the cast of Bad Girls and Jersey Shore can ascertain that. The gist of Shirley's article - at least my take on it - was Shirley commenting on will the aid that Haiti's receiving help the country in the long-run. Since Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast in 2005, levee and pump modifications have been addressed and I'm sure are still being addressed. Haiti, on the other hand and for lack of a better description, is a SNAFU (military acronym for Situation Normal All Fucked Up). I mean, besides the civil strife, government corruption, and an infrastructure that's - well, "infrastructure" is probably being overly generous - Haiti has been the poster child-country for Murphy's Law. Tropical Jean killed over 3,000 Haitians in 2004. Hurricanes Gustav, Hanna and Ike and Tropical Storm Fay caused $900 million in damages in 2008. It's almost a question of not if...but when's the next disaster gonna strike? Will it be a natural disaster or something generated from within the Haitian culture?

That's wonderful that the U.S. can contribute $100 million to help Haiti. It's inspiring that Hope for Haiti Now and Brad and Angelina and Leonardo DeCaprio and the NBA and the NFL donated money. It's makes me proud to be from the U.S. But if I were the U.S. government, I might have contributed $50 million instead of $100 million - save the other $50 million for our own economic turnaround...or are we back on our feet again? Take part of that extra $50 million and give some toward the Katrina clean-up in Louisiana and Mississippi. Five years later and we're still screwing around down there. Or how about the Cedar Rapids, Iowa clean-up after the 2008 flooding? I've seen the devastation - people are still living in trailers. There are entire blocks and blocks and blocks of homes standing empty and unlivable - forever.

Photo by JONATHAN TORGOVNIK/REPORTAGE FOR CNN

However people choose to chastise Paul Shirley for his "insensitivity", underneath that he's proposing honest questions. Will Haiti and the international community continue with the band aids each time a disaster stikes that country? Whose turn is it to build the house of cards this time?

A friend informed me that the U.S. is partly responsible for Haiti's long-term suffering due to our involvement years ago in encouraging the farmers to give up an agricultural-based economy in favor of an industrial economy and exporting. I read the article he sent me. Fine. But something's gotta be done with this country for the long-term...either Haiti does it alone or another country needs to step in.

'Cause the shit will hit the fan again if the status quo remains. You can bet on it. I'm serious - and don't call me Shirley. And don't call me insensitive. Or cruel. I'm thinking for the long-term welfare of Haiti and her people.

Shouldn't we all?

The Favre-Viking Experiment. Did it work?

The NFL regular season ended yesterday. An inordinate amount of fodder has been spewed about how Brett couldn't possibly last an entire regular season because of his age. What would you expect of one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game who's still playing at the age of 40 - and never missed a game in his career (19 years)? So I wanted to take a quick glance at the effect of Favre's presence on the Minnesota Vikings' team during this past season. I'm aware that anti-Favre-ites bitch about Favre in the post-season, but this ain't about the post-season.

First, let's look at Favre's numbers for the season:

Statistically, this season was Favre's best in his 19-year career, unprecedented for a 40-year-old. A 107.2 passer rating (2nd in the league and his highest ever), 68.4 completion percentage (3rd, highest ever), 4202 yards (6th, and his 6th season of 4,000+ yards), 33 TDs (2nd), and a HUGE STAT - only 7 INTs (tied for 2nd least with two other players AND his lowest amount in his career). Aside from adding stats to all the meaningful NFL QB records he owns while also adding to his consecutive game streak of 286 (regular season only), Favre set another NFL record with 9 seasons of 30+ TDs. AND, Favre will be the FIRST 40-year-old QB to start a playoff game in NFL history.

These are Favre's personal stats. NO ONE can argue with his numbers. If you think you can, than you're a walking lobotomy and someone should just pull the plug. Do I think Favre's a viable MVP candidate? Certainly - as much as Drew Brees (QB, Saints), Peyton Manning (QB, Colts) and Chris Johnson (RB, Titans) are. Will he get it? Not sure.

2nd, what about the team...the Vikings?

The team finished 12-4, two wins better than last year. Favre's presence undoubtedly made the team a PASS FIRST, RUN SECOND team - in contrast to what everyone said when Favre joined the Vikes, which was all Favre had to do was hand the ball to Adrian Peterson.

If you think Tavaris Jackson could've accomplished the same result, think again. A) The Vikings more than likely would have relied more on the running game with Jackson. B) Would Jackson have elevated the play of other players as Favre did? C.) There's no way you can know proof positive what Jackson would've done had he started this season, so shut your piehole.

Interview any player at the squad - Favre's knowledge of the game, experience, intensity, competitiveness and "having fun" attitude was infectious (see #5 below for Jimmy Johnson's definition of "infectious"). And perhaps you could say the team did the same for Brett. Receivers were loading their laptops with opponents' game footage to take home and study because Favre did it. Who was in the film room studying tape late Saturday evenings? Favre. Who heard of Sidney Rice before this season? Visanthe Shiancoe finished tied for fourth among all players with 11 TD catches and Adrian Peterson - even while finishing the season with 400 less rushing yards than last year - led the NFL with 18 TDS. 9 Vikes were selected the Pro Bowl (Percy Harvin was just added as a return specialist today). The Vikings' defense led the league in sacks. At least 5 Vikings' receivers had 50+ catches (unprecedented) and rookie Percy Harvin totaled 2,081 all-purpose yards this season, including kickoff returns, the most in Vikings history and a heavy favorite for Rookie of the Year honors. Favre's ability to make the rest of the team bring its "A" game is another reason I feel he's worthy of his 4th MVP.

Schism? Fuck your schism, ESPN's Adam Schefter. Rift between Coach Childress and Favre? A non-story blown up by the media for simply self-serving purposes.

Now let's take a look at what some naysayers have babbled before and during the season. Believe me - there were a ton of these. Here's just a few of the asshole rantings I remembered off the cuff:

1.) Bill Simmons/ESPN - September 10. "We've seen players willingly tarnish their careers to hold on for a couple of extra paychecks, but never at the expense of demigod status in a specific region. Weird. All of it." The man wanted to play ball, Bill. Perhaps if you and your colleagues had the same passion for your job, you wouldn't churn out mindless pieces of dribble week-to-week in the hopes that you'll break a story with unnamed sources like Jay Glazer (FoxSports.com) and Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter (ESPN)

Simmons also said this: "Prediction III: A promising Minnesota start (3-0) will unhinge thanks to a fatal Molotov cocktail: an aging, reckless, washed-up QB who fades in November/December (Favre), a shaky coach (Brad Childress) and the pressure of unrealistic expectations." The Vikes finished 12-4, after going 10-0 and are the 2nd seed in the NFC and Favre had his best year ever, douche bag.

2.) In July, FoxSports.com's Adam Schein made his 2009-10 NFL predictions, including that the Vikings would be crazy to sign Brett Favre and drop Tarvaris Jackson. In fact, Schein has been anti-Favre and anti-Vikings the entire season, whether it was via FoxSports.com or on his Sirius radio program. Check out this link - play the top video on Favre - and listen to this asshole.

3.) Former Patriot Rodney Harrison shot his mouth off on numerous occasions about how the Vikings' signing Favre was bad for the team. This - from a player voted one of the dirtiest players in all of football (multiple honors) and was suspended for using human growth hormones (which is illegal). Here's one of my blog post bitches about Harrison - and a second.

4.) Ex-Viking Fran Tarkenton. Shut the fuck up, bitter old man. One instance, Tarkenton says Favre is selfish and that football is a team sport and in another instance, Fran says he hopes Favre fails...which would mean Fran's ex-team fails. Isn't THAT selfish, Fran? Part One. And Part Two.

5.) Coach Jimmy Johnson, who's featured on the Fox pre-game show. Last week, Johnson said Favre is infected with a disease due, a comment that stemmed from Favre telling Vikes' Coach Childress that he wouldn't come out of the Carolina game when the Vikes were leading 7-6 in the 3rd quarter. Keep in mind, Chilly DISCUSSED the idea of pulling Favre to protect him and never said 'I want to pull you out of the game'. This media non-story blew up to the point where the media questioned who, in fact, is running the Minnesota Vikings - Favre or Coach Childress - and pointed out an apparent power struggle due to differences of philosophy concerning the running of the offense.

Now yesterday, Jimmy Johnson stated (after the Vikes trounced the Giants, 44-7) that the Vikings are FAVRE'S TEAM. ???? Hypocrite.

6.) Merril Hoge. Ex-NFLer stated that when Favre is asked to sit by the coach (which he wasn't), you sit. "Vikings are one and done in the playoffs!"

I don't know about the one and done thing, but the following week, Hoge was just as befuddled as the rest of us were when the Colts sat Peyton Manning for most of the game and the Colts lost. Why was it not OK for Manning to sit on the bench, yet Favre should've sat no question, Hoge? Hypocrite.

7.) Kevin Seifert of ESPN and a multitude of other sports talking heads including ESPN's Mark Schlereth (ex-Bronco), Jemele Hill have come down on Favre, doubting his ability to be effective all season. Hill suggested Packer fans throw batteries at Favre when he returned to play Green Bay at Lambeau (she was reprimanded for that comment by ESPN). I tweeted her - she said she was kidding and apologized for it. Do I hear a "WHATEVER!"? Some writers have jumped back on the Favre bandwagon - Hill and Kevin Hench (FoxSports.com). And they all refer to Favre as a "waffler".

Hey, we all have opinions. Fine. But I despise people who consistently contradict themselves; I despise hypocrites. Quite frankly, the media are vermine. And you know, I don't know how the Vikings will perform in the playoffs and I don't make predictions like every other moron out there. But you can ask any one of a number of sports columnists or thousands of fans what they think - I'm sure they'll tell you. As I've stated repeatedly, the vast majority of sports columnists' rants amount to nothing but "blah, blah, blah" because they can't write and are forced to talk from their assholes.

Which anyone can do.

ESPN's Craig James (is a dick), his son (probably a dick too) and a "dark shed".

So, the former head coach of the Texas Tech football team, Mike Leach, finds himself in hot water for locking receiver Adam James in the "woodshed" ("dark shed", "storage closet", whatever the fuck it was he locked him in) because Coach Leach thought James was faking a concussion.

Before Leach could whip out the switch on James, Leach gets the boot. Normally I wouldn't condone such behavior by a coach - any adult, for that matter. However, Adam James ain't the little drummer boy, according to a number of sources.

But don't tell his daddy, former NFLer and ESPN college analyst Craig James. James and his wife brought this matter to the Texas Tech administration's attention and all hell broke lose.

Like I said - normally I'd chastise Coach Leach. But I hate Craig James. Why? In 1998, James stated on ESPN that the #9-ranked Wisconsin Badgers were "the worst team to ever play in the Rose Bowl." Wisconsin went on to defeat the #6-ranked UCLA 38–31 in the 1999 Rose Bowl, led by ex-NFLer RB Ron Dayne. Afterward, Badger coach Barry Alvarez fired back, "Well, I know we're at least the second worst."

I never forgot that Craig James' comment. It was a dumb thing to say. And every time I see his face I think it was a dumb thing to say. Best part is that he got faced in the end - Wisconsin won the game. Call me jaded...Craig could tell me it's raining when it is raining and I wouldn't believe him. No credibility.

Craig James is a dick. Ergo, so is Adam James.

My adopted word is "FOPPOTEE".

It means, "a simple-minded person" .

Let's try it in a sentence. "I think Jemele Hill (ESPN "correspondent") is a simple-minded person".

I like it. Figure I'll use it enough to bring it back from the English language equivalent of the Tower of London (does that make sense...maybe I'm simple-minded). If you can save a whale, save a tree, save a child, save a building, save a whatever...you can surely find the time to SAVE A WORD!

ESPN's Jemele Hill needs a bitch-slapping.

ESPN's Jemele Hill to Packers Fans - Batteries at Favre
Uploaded by bobsblitz. - Check out more sports and extreme sports videos.

Just yesterday, this hack wrote an article chastising Favre on ESPN.com and 95% of the comments were anti-Jemele Hill (regardless of whether the comments were pro-Favre or anti-Favre). Pathetic piece of trash. Her article. Hill stated Favre was harming his legacy by flip-flopping on retiring AND by playing for the Minnesota Vikings, a hated Packer rival. That's odd -how flippant Hill was when she illustrated (however poorly it was written) how these events might tarnish Favre's image, yet weeks ago she wrote an article about Steve McNair, saying, "Steve's faults should not weigh on his legacy." OK.

A few hours after her piece of shit article on ESPN.com was getting bombarded by readers' negative comments, Hill goes on ESPN's "First Take" and encouraged Packers' fans to give Brett Favre the "Duracell Treatment" during his return game against the Packers at Lambeau Field. She said to Packer fans:

HILL: "Listen to me, okay? If you have a shred of pride you will give Brett Favre the Duracell treatment when he comes to Lambeau Field."

OTHER GUYS: The Duracell treatment, what's that?

HILL: "Batteries! Batteries!" (She was saying to throw batteries at Favre while he's on the field.)

THIS - an ESPN "reporter"? You're joking? ESPN issued this apology:

And this isn't the first time Hill stuck her foot in her mouth. She was suspended for comparing the Boston Celtics to "Hitler" and "Nuclear War". Sorry - I shouldn't have said "her mouth". She needs to stick her head up her ass. And she should be fired and arrested for inciting a mob to riot. I'm serious.

Soooooo...if you're looking to book Jemele Hill for your next event, fill out this form. It'll cost you between $2,500 - $5,000 to hear her insult your party guests and incite them to riot.

The stupidest sportscaster on radio = Mychal Thompson.

I had to preface my headline by saying "on radio" as there a ton of sport commentators I detest (think FoxSports.com).

Mychal is currently on 710AM ESPN's LA Sports Live in Los Angeles, a weekday program he co-hosts with Andrew Siciliano. Today they were discussing the propensity of some sports (namely baseball) to pay outrageous salaries to rookie athletes before they've even proven themselves on the field.

Andrew repeated over and over again that he's not berating the athletes ("take it if you can get it") but that it's a problem with the system. But this dipshit Mychal Thompson kept coming back to his, "if you were an athlete wouldn't you take the money?" argument. WTF? Are you fucking deaf, Mychal? And he kept doing this with whatever subject they were talking about.

LISTEN UP, ASSHOLE.

It's no wonder that Mychal (and his co-host) was fired from the LA AM Radio program Loose Cannons (they show was cancelled).

"I like Brett," says Colin Cowherd.

Listening to ESPN radio on the drive in to work this morning, Colin Cowherd said of any sports figure, he'd pick Brett Favre to sit down and have a beer with. In describing Favre, Cowherd said three words come to mind: "I like Brett."

This - coming on Favre's annoucement this morning that he's retiring. And this - coming from a guy who called Favre a "coach killer" after the 2008 NFL season. Gotta hate the media, huh?

Colin Cowherd just contradicted himself. "Nuff said about the media.

While commenting on the coaching carousel in the NFL (Jets, Browns, Colts) this morning, ESPN's Colin Cowherd mentioned that the firing of Eric Mangini by the New York Jets was "rightfully so".

Interesting. A couple weeks ago, he stated that Brett Favre was a "coach killer". So how can Mangini's firing be "rightfully so" if Cowherd believed it was Favre's fault that Mangini got fired in the first place?

'Cause they're idiots, that's why.

Just proves my point that the media doesn't know what it's talking about half the time and that anything said by, in this case, sports commentators, must be taken with a grain of salt.

Colin Cowherd of ESPN is dead WRONG. And I want a retraction.

Colin Cowherd of ESPN Radio hosts "The Herd", which I get on KSPN-710 in Los Angeles weekday mornings. He's hated or loved - nothing in between. OK, I like him. He does come across pompous-ish. But he made one comment this morning that I vehemently disagree with - and he's wrong.

And I want a public retraction.

He called New York QB Brett Favre of the New York Jets a "coach killer". That was it. Nothing to back up the statement. And he made it sound as if a precedent had been set with past Favre coaches. All this on the heels of the Jets firing of Head Coach Eric Mangini today and - well, Cowherd spouted his mouth off and if he had done his research (he always states how he does his homework) he would have never made the comment in the first place. He went on to say - without actually saying it - that Favre is responsible for the Jets starting out 8-3, then dropping to 9-7; thus, a "coach killer".

Favre played under 4 coaches at Green Bay:

1. Mike Holmgren, who left GB because he wanted to become a coach/GM at Seattle. No coach killing there. He nurtured Favre from the beginning and they won a SB together. Shoulda been at least 2 more.

2. Ray Rhodes came on aboard and lasted one season. Rhodes killed his own career.

3. Mike Sherman coached from 2000-05. He had an overall winning record but in the end, couldn't finish the job. Believe me as a Packer fan all my life (until I boycotted them this year in favor of Favre and the Jets), you poll GB fans and 99% will tell you Sherman killed his own career.

4. Mike McCarthy - 2006-present; one of the three, now famous, 3 Wise Monkeys of the GB management team who thought it best for the team to "ride the train outta town" without Brett Favre this past season. The Packers, who were 13-3 the previous year and one win from the SB, fell to a 6-10 record this past season under the leadership of their new QB, Aaron Rodgers...and the 3 Wise Monkeys.

So you see, Mr. Herd, Brett Favre is NOT a "coach killer" as you alluded to on your show this morning. If anything, he's been an asset to coaches throughout his career, as well as their own careers. How can you make such an irresponsible, blanket statement like that without checking your facts? Notwithstanding Mangini's firing this morning (and, as I've said, even when the Jets were 8-3 I constantly questioned much of Mangini's coaching moves/strategies), I want a retraction and I want it done on your show for the nation to hear.

I'm shocked. Jets move up to #6 in both ESPN/FoxSports.com NFL rankings.

But then - it's Brett Favre. So part of me isn't shocked. I said from day one the Packers were assholes for trading him. Did they listen to me?

According to the recent FoxSports.com NFL Power Rankings:

#6 - New York Jets!
Record 7-3
8 moves up this week
6/23 (highest ranking / lowest ranking)

"After watching Brett's Jets win a thriller in New England to grab first place in the tough AFC East, it's hard not to wonder how the heck this team lost to the Raiders earlier in the season. But things are coming together for the Jets, and how happy is RB Thomas Jones with Brett Favre in town? With his ex-teammate in 2007, the vertically-passing challenged Chad Pennington, Jones faced eight-man fronts weekly and scored just two touchdowns all season. This year Jones already has tied his career high with nine scores, and his 4.5 yards per carry marks the second-best average of his career."

THIS WEEK: at Titans (10-0)

Anyone who reads this blog knows I hate the sports writers at FoxSports.com (with the exception of the NFL Sunday television crew). They seemingly have it out for Favre and have been a bane in his side (and mine) all season long. Adrian Hasenmayer's ranking was a nice compliment to the Jets' 7-3 season, thus far (they finished 4-12 last season). I don't put a lot of stock in rankings and odds and predictions; I would just prefer everyone would shut up (including most of the televison announcers) so I can watch my game in peace and listen to MY OWN SHOUTING.
That being said, it was nice to see ESPN echo the Jets' ranking. Time will tell. GO JETS! GO FAVRE!

ESPN readers say Jets got better end of Favre trade.

ESPN is debating on number of "hot" topics - current MVP, best running back, best team, worst team and, who got the better end of the Brett Favre trade: Jets or Packers?

As of 11:06 a.m this morning PST, 30,101 voters chimed in and 75% say the Jets got the best of the deal, while 25% say the Pack got the best of the deal.

Heeehawww!! So sorry, 3 Wise Monkeys (Pres. Mike Murphy, Coach Mike McCarthy and GM Ted Thompson). You know where I stand, regardless of how either team's season ends up. The Packers can lick my lingum. I remain a loyal boycotter of Green Bay and will NOT cross the scab picket line. GO JETS IN 2008! GO FAVRE IN 2008!

BREAKING NEWS! Is Favre REALLY thinking about a return to the NFL??

Not according to Rachel of Harrison County, Mississippi.

I stopped to get gas on my way home from work today. I'm waiting for a car that's ahead of me filling up. A very cute brunette walks up to the car and tops the tank off. I notice her plates are from Harrison County, Mississippi. So I ask her if she's a Brett Favre fan. Definitely - "he's a family friend". Do you know him, I ask? Very well, she says.

I get out of my car and introduce myself. I tell her I'm from Wisconsin and a huge Packer/Favre fan and Rachel and I start talking. She said she heard the news on ESPN that Favre's getting the itch to return to the NFL. She calls her mother and asks her, "did you call K.K.?"...an aunt or relation to Favre who's a family friend of Rachel's.

Rachel said unequivocally that Brett was NOT coming back. Her thoughts, I know. Breaking news? For this blog it is. And it's as much "breaking" as Chris Mortensen's story on ESPN that apparently Favre said holds no water.

What are the odds, eh? Of the girl being that hot, I mean?

Favre gettin' the itch??

Chris Mortensen from ESPN reported today that Brett is getting the itch to play for the Packers. Media rumors? Who the hell knows. But I know this - who are we to tell Brett what he can or cannot do in retirement? If he decides to come back than so be it. He's earned the right to retire and unretire and retire again. Screw the media. Screw people's emotions. Screw everyone. Anyone who disagrees can lick my lingum.

Brett apparently text the Biloxi Herald saying there is no story.

Vandermause & Packer Nation take on ESPN's Sal "I wanna swim with the fishes" Paolantonio

Last week ESPN columnist Sal Paolantonio wrote a verbose column on why he thought Brett Favre was an over-hyped player in the NFL. He took an excerpt from his book (on over-hyped players in the NFL) and updated it - and ripped into Favre's legacy. I joined the fray of comment-teers early on, when the number of comments was around 150. It's now over 5,000. Hot topic. At one point I actually got booted from the message board because some asshole reported me for a "violation". After a couple hours, I was granted a reprieve - then proceeded to get the "asshole" booted off (he was booting people off left and right - it was bullshit).

I've stayed away from commenting any more an Sal's bullshit for two reasons: 1) I don't wanna get booted again, and 2) I found out that when our boy Sal was on the Mike and Mike Radio Show and the Favre comments in Sal's book were brought up, Sal the Weasel conveniently attributed what was written about Favre to his "associate" - the other writer. Ohhhhh...I see how it is, Sal. After Favre retired, Sal thought it would be cool to bring up the subject again, but I didn't read anywhere that he attributed the comments to his "associate" this time. I wonder what Sal's grudge is?

I stayed away until Mike Vandermause, a columnist for Packernews.com wrote a retort of sorts to Sal's pile of shit article.

First, read Sal's take on Favre: Over-hyped: Favre didn't deliver in second half of career
Now read Vandermause's take on Sal's take on Favre: Paolantonio's slam on Favre lacks merit

Skip Bayless from ESPN's "First Take" & "First and Ten" is a Dick

Google this ass. No one - even other sports commentators - can stand him. He criticized Brett Favre for giving "five" to the ref in yesterday's Packer-Lion game, saying it was uncalled for and that it leaves room for theorists to speculate that refs favor a certain team or player.

Bullshit. It was totally spontaneous. The ref just happened to have his hand in a position where you'd think he was almost offering it to Favre. And Favre - the way he is - just went with it.

Why are we even talking about this? Zip it, Skip. And another reason why I can't stand sports commentators period. Even the ones I like I put up with. Troy Aikman, for example, I like. But during the Cowboys-Redskins game he mentioned that the Redskins were 'putting it to the metal' by still playing their star running back and receiver, Clinton Portis and Santana Moss, That's right, Aikman, you dolt. Even with the lead, why would these players be pulled? They HAD to win the game to get into the playoffs. Duh.
