Passion = Truth? How Jeffrey James Francis Ircink Sees The World? I love when people are passionate about something. That surging of emotion is the one honest measure of what truth is. It's a truthful display of how a person really feels about something or someone at that particular moment. That passion IS truth.

My word "hongo" has offended...Mr. Hongo.

I made up a word when I was a kid - "hongo". I submitted it to Urban Dictionary and they accepted the word and my definition.

Yesterday, someone posted this comment on my blog regarding that definition:

Hongo is not a word its a Japanese last name and a very popular one. In fact its my last name and I find it really offensive that you would use someone's name as a slang term.

And I commented back:

according to Urban Dictionary, it IS a word - MY word. i'm sure "Kong" is someone's last name too - did you get all bent outta shape about the movie, "King Kong"? get a life, Mr. Hongo.

...and of course, I had to get the last word in:

and if your last name was so honorable, why did you post under "anonymous"? you must not be that proud of your name, Mr. HONGO.

...and pour salt on poor Mr. Hongo's wounds:

interestingly, should someone with the last name "Cock" get upset because "cock" is a slang word for "penis"? what if your first name is "Dick"? there's another slang name for my cock...i mean, my penis.

I wonder if my needling of Mr. Hongo qualifies as "torture" or "cruel and unusual punishment"?

"Monchhichi, Monchhichi...is a-a du-umb toy".

What a dumb toy and an even dumber song. And I'm NOT putting a picture of it on this blog so you'll just have to google it. Suffice it say it's a little plush monkey toy originating in Japan and it first reached America in 1979.

My brother and I would purposefully change the words of the song so we could say the word "tit" in front of my mother and not get smacked for it. We told her we were just singing the song from the commercial (she had no clue we changed the words).

So instead of singing: "Monchhichi, Monchhichi, Oh so soft and cuddle-ly...", Jason and I would sing, "Monchhichi, Monchhichi, Ain't she-e priTIT-ty..."

Stupid kids. Stupid toy. Jas and I still get together and say stupid things and sing stupid songs and recall our youth when we did stupid stuff and had a ball doing it.

Remember Pearl Harbor - December 7, 1941

66 years ago - a day which will live in infamny - Pearl Harbor was attacked by Japan, propelling the U.S. into WWII.

"Pearl Harbor 0755...While the Giant Slept" by Dru Blair

Sunday 0755 hours. Time to wake up the "Sleeping Giant". Battleship Row lays peacefully below moments before Lt. Commander Takahashi's Aichi D3A1 Type 99 "Val" Dive bomber rolls in on Hangar 6 on the southern tip of Ford Island. By accident, Takahashi was the first to drop his ordnance because of a mistake in interpreting the signal flares beginning the attack. Takahashi's bomb struck the water's edge in front of hangar 6 located at 5 o'clock in this picture.

For more information on Pearl Harbor, go to http://plasma.nationalgeographic.com/pearlharbor/. Also, check out http://acesofww2.com/Bombers/Bombers_1941.htm for more paintings on Aces of WWII like the above Dru Blair painting.
