Passion = Truth? How Jeffrey James Francis Ircink Sees The World? I love when people are passionate about something. That surging of emotion is the one honest measure of what truth is. It's a truthful display of how a person really feels about something or someone at that particular moment. That passion IS truth.

Happy 116th Birthday, Mr. Rockwell!

The famed American painter used this piece, "Triple Self-Portrait", as the artwork for the cover of the February 13, 1960 issue of the Saturday Evening Post. The oil on canvas hangs in the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, MA.

Rockwell painted 333 covers for the Saturday Evening Post. He's one of my favorite artists.

Not THAT Pamela Anderson. Pamela Anderson - the Milwaukee artist at Paintmysky.com. This piece of Pamela's is called "Many Faces". I'm seeking out other artistic folk in Wisconsin via FB and other resources in preparation for my move back home at the end of the month. I didn't start acting until I left Milwaukee in 1992 and moved to Cedar Rapids, IA; didn't start playwriting until I moved to Los Angeles in 1998.

So, the art scene in Milwaukee is untouched and untapped by me. Should be interesting - and exciting. And just to prove that reaching out to a total stranger can pay off, I have an invitation for a personal tour of Pamela's studio when I get back to Milwaukee. Sweet.

My Jackson Pollock.

"Ecstasy", © Copyright 2009 Jeffrey James Ircink

(I posted this earlier today but I changed my "Pollack" masterpiece to the above - I was too rushed in the morning. I feel better now. There are newer posts after this one from today.)

It's the artist Jackson Pollock's birthday today. Make your own Pollock - like mine. Just don't make a "polack". Unless, of course, you're Polish.

Maybe she wields a brush like she did a knife.

Happened across these on the internet. Great stroke detail, wouldn't you say? A painter of this caliber must have a deft hand. Any ideas who it is?

The artist is Susan Atkins, one of the Manson Family murderers in jail for participating in the horrible killing spree in 1969 that left 9 people dead. I'm not trying to give credence to her or her ideologies - just thought it was quality work. After all, she's had 39 years of incarceration to become proficient at her craft.

Robin Hood and the Men of Greenwood

Classic illustration by N.C. Wyeth. 1917.

Up at the crack of dawn this morning, I was paging through a Milwaukee newspaper sent to me by my friend, Janis, while drinking Alterra Coffee (sent to me also by Janis) and I came across an illustration of a pirate. The first picture that popped into my head was this illustration by the renowned American artist and illustrator, N.C. Wyeth. It's one of my favorites - I have the poster in storage I'll someday frame. Wyeth is known for his children's book illustrations - among them Robinson Crusoe, Last of the Mohicans, Treasure Island and Robin Hood. I've always loved the legend of Robin Hood and, as I come from a family of bowhunters, Mr. Hood shares a special place in all our hearts.
