Dead hummingbird.
National Geographic Magazine has a photo contest online called, Your Shot. You submit a picture - one picture per 30-day period. As pictures are submitted, NGM chooses the Daily 12 that you can vote on. At the end of the contest/cycle, NGM chooses pictures it wants to include in its magazine.
But after seeing the daily shots that NGM is selecting, I've become fearful that my shots might just be too good for the site. Seriously. Someone sends in a picture of her daughter holding a soccer ball and THAT make the Daily 12??? There was a picture on the NGM site I wanted to post here that depicted a dead hummingbird which had flown into a spider's web. That picture was blocked from copying so the above picture of a dead hummingbird which I found online will have to stand in its place.
Here's the site. The hummingbird is under September - 2nd week.
There are many pictures I'm disappointed in - or I should say, disappointed in NGM's selection thereof. Hell, every one of the 6 pictures I plan to submit (over the next 6 months) SHOULD be selected for the Daily 12, based on what I've seen thus far. A dead hummingbird??? I don't ever wanna see a picture of a dead hummingbird - especially one wrapped up in a spider web with the spider "posing" with its quarry. It's like seeing a picture of a dead person. It scared me. Maybe I'm off-base. Odd selection though.
