During an address from Madison outlining his two-year budget for Wisconsin, Governor Scott Walker's proposal for cutting college tuition for illegal aliens in our state met with a rousing "HUZZAH"! from proponents who believe the United States government has become a lame pussy when it comes illegals in our country.

Representative John Kavanagh (R-AZ) is leading the way with proposed legislation to re-word the 14th Amendment, which was adopted in 1868 and states that citizenship be applied to “all persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof.”

The Society of Professional Journalists' (of which I was VP of our student chapter at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater) diversity committee met this past year to consider the best language journalists should use when addressing people of varying cultures. For example, consider the notion that "undocumented immigrant" be used in place of "illegal immigrant". That's the SPJ diversity committee stance...not mine.
In an opinion piece by SPJ member Leo E. Laurence, a member of The National Association of Hispanic Journalists, states, "It was based on our federal, constitutional principle that everyone is considered innocent of any crime until proven guilty in a court of law. The proposed Diversity Committee resolution urged journalists to use the phrase “undocumented immigrant(s), and avoid both 'illegal immigrant' or 'illegal alien'.
NOTE: Laurence's opinion piece does not reflect the views of SPJ, its membership or its Diversity Committee. The committee itself has taken no official initiative on the use of the phrase "illegal immigrant."
It's sort of like a news anchorperson saying, "...the ALLEGED perpetrator or ALLEGED crime committed", when the accused readily admitted murdering someone. I think. Right?
Laurence goes on to state that only a judge can deem someone or something "illegal" and that the press' use - or the public's use - of the phrase "illegal immigrant" or "illegal alien" only helps to create bigotry toward a race of people. (I'm paraphrasing.)
Even FoxNews' Megyn Kelly grapples the topic in a FoxNews segment, going as far as alluding that if journalists heed Laurence's suggestion, why not refer to rapists as "nonconsensual sex partners". Personally, I do not find her analogy offending in the least bit.
The penultimate ambulance chaser, one of Gloria Schmalred's current cases involves representing an illegal alien to whom she referred as "Rosa Parks" (a legal, black female who stood up for blacks' rights in the 1960's).

Mike Gempler is the Executive Director of the Washington Growers League and he's seen here at the May Day immigration rally in Washington D.C. today. Fast-forward to the :39 mark. Gempler readily admits that 70% of the agriculture workers are illegal. OK - we all knew that. But Gempler very nonchalantly states this on video. In 1928, Supreme Court Justice Louis D. Brandeis strongly defended the individual right to privacy from government intrusion in his dissenting opinion in Olmstead vs. United States:
If the government becomes a law breaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy. To declare that in the administration of the criminal law the end justifies the means 'to declare that the government may commit crimes in order to secure the conviction of a private criminal' would bring terrible retribution.
Illegal immigrants are breaking the law. The corporations (including Mike here) are breaking the law. And our federal government is breaking the law. How long will Washington continue to put off immigration reformation? I predict we have no immigration reform by the end of 2011. I tip my hat to the state of Arizona for stepping up and passing immigration reform of its own (whether it stays law or not).
And Gempler should be arrested for aiding and abetting criminals.
May Day (the 1st day of May) signifies a day where various labor celebrations are conducted throughout the world. In recent times, it's been used in the U.S. to protest the treatment of illegal aliens. More often then not, marches center on the plight of illegals from Mexico and other Spanish-speaking countries. The picture above was taken today in Washington D.C.
Look at the girl holding the poster that states, "My dreams are not illegal". She's right. "Dreams" are not illegal - but an illegal alien in the U.S. dreaming is illegal. The phrasing on her sign would seem to indicate that SHE herself is an illegal alien.
Idiots. Another example of how our government has shied away from dealing with this issue. If I were a cop, I'd question her to see if she is an illegal alien and to see if she's got the legal papers that give her the right to be in this country. But the cops won't. Pathetic.
Mexico issued a travel alert to its citizens regarding visiting Arizona in response to that state's new immigration bill recently signed by Governor Jan Brewer. The government bulletin urged Mexican citizens to carry "available documentation … (to) avoid needless confrontation." Which is what Mexican visitors to the U.S. should be doing anyway. The only people that need to fear anything are those who are here illegally - Mexican, Irish, Russian, Serbian, British, etcetera.
Now, if Mexico would just issue an alert for the remaining 49 states...

NumbersUSA President and Founder Roy Beck headed to the National Mall on Sunday, March 21 to try and discuss the impact of illegal immigration and high immigration numbers with the pro-amnesty marchers. Needless to say, Roy received a less-than-warm welcome from the pro-amnesty supporters.
NumbersUSA is an immigration reduction organization. SEIU, based out of (oddly enough) Racine, WI., is the pro-illegal immigration union representing about 2.2 million workers in over 100 occupations in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. SEIU focuses health care, public services, and property services (including janitors, security officers and food service workers).
During this particular rally, SEIU sent a team of attorneys dressed as mimes and SEIU employees to stalk, push, shove, harass and whistle down Roy and his TV crew for several hours. The Federal Park Police asked Beck and his crew to move across the street, away from the pro-immigration rally. Fine. Then the SEIU mimes followed Beck and his crew across the street. After the Federal Park Police ordered the SEIU agitators to move away from Roy and his crew, a mime accusing one of Beck's colleagues of assaulting her (or assaulting her balloons - watch video) - three hours after it supposedly took place - and he was arrested. Roy countered with criminal assault charges against the mimes and their SEIU organizers.

My point is this: Everyone has the right to protest. So I don't wanna hear the liberals cry about the Tea Party or other conservative groups who are protesting any Obama or Democratic policies or agenda when liberal protestors are quilty of the doing the exact same thing. Recently a man was arrested for posting a video on the Internet threatening to kill a Republican congressman. Another guy protesting at an anti-health care bill rally had his finger bitten off by a pro-health care supporter. Liberals have been marching and protesting against wars, for gay's rights, pro-choice and other women's issues, PETA, anti-whaling, anti-fishing, tree huggers, global warming, blah, blah, blah...quit your bitching.
President Obama, I know you've got health care, jobs, our economy, etc. to deal with but the "elephant in the room" isn't going to go away on it's own.

The forum's purpose is to raise the question of whether non-citizens should be allowed to vote, and at what level of government.
We should consider giving illegals in the U.S. voting rights? What flaws in this logic can you see?
In case you're living in a bubble and haven't heard of the DREAM Act, I urge you to read this. Rep. Howard Berman (D-CA), Sen. Richard Luger (R-IN) and Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) introduced the DREAM Act amnesty (Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors), which would amnesty illegal alien children (the DREAM Act classifies illegal alien children as those under 30 years of age). Once these illegal aliens are amnestied, they will have the ability to sponsor their immediate relatives (many of whom may already be in the United States illegally), essentially creating a giant rolling amnesty. Currently, there are at least 2 million illegal aliens who could easily qualify for this amnesty.

Tell your elected official that if he/she truly wants to help illegal alien children of "good moral character," he/she should introduce a bill that helps only them and does not allow them to amnesty their illegal alien parents and relatives. I faxed my CA state representatives and told them they've lost their mind for supporting this piece of shit legislation.

I am absolutely appalled by your comments on CNN's "State of the Union" program! Crossing the border without permission is a crime!
I cannot get over the wanton disregard that you and your fellow cabinet members have for unemployed Americans (currently 13.2 million and counting). Not only do you prevent ICE from taking workplace enforcement actions that free up jobs for American workers, now you wish to disregard America's immigration laws. Please, allow me to refresh your memory of 8 U.S.C. 1325(a): "Any alien who (1) enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers, or (2) eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers, or (3) attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact, shall, for the first commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18 or imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both, and, for a subsequent commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18, or imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both." 8 U.S.C. 1325(a) does not seem difficult to understand; it clearly states that crossing into the United States without permission is a crime, punishable by up to 6 months in jail.
With this in mind, you should consider retracting the comments you made on CNN. To be honest, I do not believe you are ignorant of the law. Instead, I believe that the law does not suit your political agenda. Therefore, you have decided to misrepresent and, at times, ignore the law. While you may think your aims are noble, your thinking is clearly misguided. Any attempt on your part to prevent illegal aliens from being arrested and deported will have serious ramifications for America's 13 million unemployed. I urge you to look deep inside your soul and determine if you can truly stab unemployed Americans in the back simply to curry favor for your political allies. If so, you are in the wrong job.

60% of U.S. voters now have an unfavorable opinion of House Speaker Nancy "Pablo" Pelosi, D-Calif., according to the most recent Rasmussen poll. 42% of those polled have a very unfavorable opinion. And an increasing number of those who disapprove of her seem to be fellow Democrats.
Could this drop in popularity be due to Pelosi calling the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arm of the federal government "un-American"? Or that she referred to illegal aliens at a church meeting as "patriotic"? Or that she's all for amnesty and probably wasn't concerned that the E-Verify vote failed in the Senate? Or that her support of President Obama initially repealing the global gag rule - allowing U.S. funding for international abortions - and the fact that she wouldn't shut her mouth about how this is such a great idea EVENTUALLY led President Obama to back off and not repeal said gag rule?
Understand - I didn't even get into the harvest marsh mouse (and there is some truth to that story which I will get into in another post) or Pelosi's misuse of government aircraft. But could all this bullshit be why Pablo Pelosi's popularity is waning? No shit. She reminds me of another bitch I hate - Barbara Bollenbach.
