Wrapped in a churro, read what Mojo says about Foo Fighter Taylor Hawkins, Dennis Wilson and POB!

I say that because the clipping I received from my buddy Nicko in CR (scratch and sniff below) from Mojo smelled like those Mexican desserts - churros. It was either the bubble mailer the CDs he burned for me came in or the Verbatim CDRs.

In December, I blogged about Rolling Stone's Reissue of the Year for 2008 went to Dennis Wilson's Pacific Ocean Blue (POB). Dennis - co-founder and drummer of The Beach Boys who passed away in 1983 - originally released POB as his first solo album in 1977 to wide critical acclaim, proving Dennis was more than a boozer, womanizer, partier and surfer-dude-drummer.

The interview above from Mojo is with Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters. Hawkins had a big hand in finishing Dennis' Holy Man, a tune meant to be on Wilson's second solo album, Bambu, but was left unfinished (as was Bambu). Here's what Taylor Hawkins had to say about Dennis and POB.

Got an email from a Zombie this morning.

Chris White, original bassist for The Zombies, emailed me this morning.

I got ahold of an email address from a website he's associated with and contacted him yesterday as I was trying to find the lyrics to the song, "I Love You" - a song he wrote as a B-side tune while with The Zombies, but was a #1 hit for the group People! in 1968.

Back to Chris White. I was tickled how quickly he emailed me (or that he emailed me period). I mean, it's Chris White of The Zombies - one of the original British Invasion groups. Come on! According to Chris, there have been discussions of the remaining original Zombies (guitarist Paul Atkinson passed away in 2002) touring some U.S. cities next year in celebration of the 40th anniversary of their album Odessey and Oracle, ranked by Rolling Stone in 2003 in 80th place on their list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. After seeing The Zombies Saturday, believe me - you want this tour to happen.

Chris and Zombie keyboardist Rod Argent wrote all the songs appearing on Odessey - an album that Foo Fighter Dave Grohl said was extremely influential to him as a musician. It IS an excellent listen - recorded at Abbey Road with many of the techs used on the Beatles' Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band.
