Finally something Milwaukee's SportsRadio 1250 and I agree on. Packers got their cheese unexpectedly curdled yesterday in the divisional match-up with the New York Giants - NY 37, GB 20. Season over - first time in NFL history a 15-1 team went one and done.

Packer fans starting to "smell" trouble.

In a story from the Green Bay Gazette, Green Bay Packer fans are becoming noticeably uneasy as the Packers dropped their 3rd loss in a row, falling to a 2-3 record thus far in the season.

Now, even from a 44-year-old ex-Packer fan like myself who has boycotted the Pack this season due to the 3 Wise Monkey's (Packer management) decision during the preseason to trade 17 year vet (16 with the Pack) and future Hall of Famer Brett Favre to the New York Jets (2-2), I still believe it's too early in the season to get a spade and start digging the Pack 6 feet under.

Yet all, thus far, is going according to my plan. What plan you ask? The Packers have to do shitty this year for heads to roll up in the GB Packer ivory tower that is Packer management. Sadly, even with a lousy record, that probably won't happen as a subpar season will be blamed on a new QB (wasn't Rogers the better choice over Favre, according to Monkeys 1, 2 and 3??) and a plague of injuries. So I'll continue to root for Brett and the Jets until Brett retires and Packer GM Ted Thompson is tarred and feather and run out of Green Bay (check old blog posts from this summer for all pertinent news on the Packer PR debacle and my viewpoints). Sad that the opportunity to build on a 13-3 regular season record last year will be pissed down the toilet in lieu of "the QB for the future".

One thing can be said - the Packers had 3 losses all last season. Their road will go nowhere but down. The injuries I alluded to earlier - hell, Favre and Co. played with injuries in the past; Brett played the entire season once with a broken thumb on his throwing hand, for Christ's sake. The Jets, on the other hand had only 4 wins last year, so their road can only go up. The missing component for GB is Favre. Like it or not, Favre's leadership and presence on the field holds a lot of weight (nonewithstanding his performance last year - garnering him Sportsman of the Year accolades from Sports Illustrated, a seond place MVP finish in voting and the FedEx Air Player of the Year award) and, though Rogers' stats are good so far, he's not enough to overcome a missing #4 on a team that went 13-3 last year that was one win away from the Super Bowl, AND a PR mess that still resonates with the city, the fans - and with the team.

Kiss my ass GM Thompson, Coach McCarthy and President Murphy! YOU ARE THE TRAITORS! YOU sold your souls! YOU were told. YOU were warned. And your egos got in the way, you control freaks. Ha...you traded a guy who - 5 games into the season - is the #1 QB in QB rating and TDs and #2 in completion percentage! It's the 5th stage syphilis, I know. I said that.

Reason for the Packers' bad showing on Sunday?

Not this little ole Tampa Bay cheerleader - taken at the Packers' game in Tampa Bay yesterday?

GB Packer QB Aaron Rogers had a shitty game. Having played well thus far in his first three games, Rogers had 2 TDs, 3 INTS and only 167 yards (give or take) and bruised his shoulder badly while the Pack went on to lose to Tampa Bay.

"Get yer Brett Favre Action Figure! Hoohaaa!"

McFarlane Toys announced its plans on last Monday for a Brett Favre New York Jets action figure to be released late this year. Favre will be part of the SportsPicks NFL 2008 Wave 3 where he will appear in both white and green jersey figures - the white available at all stores but the green only at Toys 'R' Us.

Wave 3 is scheduled to arrive in late December and includes Clinton Portis, Marion Barber, Donald Driver and Jay Cutler figures. Plans were in the works for an Aaron Rogers action figure but the shoulder on the mock-up toy broke so those plans are now in limbo.

The Packers looked real good with heir Aaron Rogers last night. Dumb comment after only 3 games, right? Exactly my point.

Didn't watch the game. Boycotting the Pack until Favre retires and Thompson is ousted as GM. But to you idiots, like "writers" - Sean Crowe's rants., Nick Gourdoux's sophomoric tales., and Steve Zsaban knows it all. - who've been quick to pat Thompson and the the other 2 Wise Monkeys' backs for their decision to rid Green Bay of Brett Favre, perhaps you should wait until the season plays out fully before you rush to snap judgements in your blog posts and online columns.

Crowning Aaron Rogers a worthy successor to Favre and applauding the 3 Wise Monkeys for their PR debacle earlier in the season after just TWO GAMES (not including last night's game against Dallas) is idiotic and mental. Perhaps it wasn't FAVRE who couldn't beat the Dallas Cowboys during his tenure as Packer QB. Perhaps it's the GREEN BAY PACKERS team who can't beat the Cowboys.

I'm not saying Favre and the Jets will beat San Diego tonite. I'm not saying the Jets will go to he playoffs with Favre or that the Packers won't go to the playoffs with Rogers. I'm saying 'let the season play out' before you rub your magic ball and start making half-ass predictions. And just be quiet.

Favre's First Start as a Jet / Preseason Against the Redskins.

Favre played 2 series in the Jets 2nd preseason game at home against the Washington Redskins on Saturday. I know it's preseason and it doesn't really matter, but considering this was Brett's first start for a different team since playing with the Green Bay Packers (and getting the shaft) for 16 years, I felt it was noteworthy.

Favre was 5-of-6 for 48 yards and threw a 4-yard touchdown pass = 139 rating.

Incidentally, Green Bay's starting QB Aaron Rogers on Saturday against the 49ers was a dismal individual and team effort - the Pack got stomped; Rogers was 9-for-16 passing for 58 yards, no TDs, sacked 4 times = 64.1 rating.

"How FAIR would it be to pull the rug out from under Rogers???"

You're kidding me, right?

According to Peter King of Sports Illustrated, Packer Coach Mike McCarthy said this to Favre in the last two weeks. FAIR????? You put the best team you can out on that football field. FAIR???? What is this - musical chairs? That's the most asinine excuse if I've heard from someone in management to not start Favre (if McCarthy said that and I don't think he meant it even if he did; I think McCarthy is feeling pressure to back Packer brASS, GM Ted Thompson.)

You know what's not fair? Intentionally putting together a sub-par team out of spite's sake. That amounts to cheating your staff, your team, your fans, your shareholders, the City of Green Bay, the State of Wisconsin and the NFL. That constitutes "throwing a game" which should be investigated by the commission and dealt with harshly.

Dear Ted,

"What makes you so confident that heir-apparent Aaron Rogers, based on his performance in 4 months of off-season mini camps, the Dallas game last season and his two additional performances as QB when he broke his ankle and pulled his groin (ending in him leaving the game), is a better QB than Brett Favre, who hasn't missed a game in 253 starts in 16 seasons, put the Green Bay franchise back on the map and had one of the best seasons of his Hall of Fame career last year, leading the Pack to a hair's length of the Super Bowl when they were figured to finish maybe 8-8 or 9-7 (in so far as the "what have you done for me lately" rationale)? So much so that you'd consider releasing Favre OR have Favre play for the Packers in the 2008-09 season as Aaron Rogers' back-up?

Talk about waffling, text messaging, innuendo, "he said, she said"...how about a straight answer to my question - 'Which QB gives the Packers the best shot at reaching the Super Bowl...Favre or Rogers?' "

Heir-Apparent Aaron Rogers on taking over for Brett Favre...
