Vikes Tame Bengals, 30-10, Vikes, 11-2. Clinch play-off berth!

Brett Favre's less-than-stellar play in December has been well documented (9-10 entering Sunday's game since 2005). Course, where are the stats from 1992-2004? But Favre downplayed any concern about that. "I don't feel like I'm falling apart in December like most people seem to think," he said. "I feel fine. I don't feel much different than most guys in that locker room at this stage of the season. In fact, I may be better off. I feel pretty good."

Good to know, Brett. And good to know the Vikes pounded the 9-3 Bengals, 30-10 Sunday in Minneapolis. The poor play by the Vikings last weekend at Arizona must've been an abberation. (AZ got their asses kicked Monday night by the 49ers.) Percy Harvin was out (migraines) but Antoine Winfield was back covering receivers after missing 6 games and he didn't look rusty at all. Peterson scored 2 TDs and was shy of 100 yards after having only 19 yards against Arizona.

Brett upped his NFL record of 6000+ yards for...for something and last week set the record for all-time position player (kickers don't factor in)/consecutive starts, a record that's different from the consecutive starts or games played for a QB, which he set a few weeks ago. Hasn't missed a game since 1992. 284 games (NOT counting playoffs) played in. Also read that this was Favre's 180th win.

And the Bengals' Ocho Cinco? The jelking douche was a non-factor.

26-12 Jets Over Bengals. Jets 3-2 / Packers 3-3.

Thomas Jones ran for two TDs and caught a Brett Favre pass for his 3rd TD of the game in what was a sort of sloppy offensive showing by the Jets (Favre had two INTs and one fumble that resulted in a Bengal TD). But honestly, it was the perfect scenario for the Jets' defense to make a stand and show they can play four quarters consistently. The Bengals' backs were held to under a 100 yards, as were the Bengals' receiving corp, including Chad Oocho Dicko, who was not a factor in the game.

Brett did complete 25 of 33 passes for 189 yards and a touchdown, giving him his highest percentage completion of the five Jets' games he played.

"There were some throws that were in tight coverage, but you can't be happy about that one week and then be mad about it the other week," Coach Eric Mangini said, "Nobody is ever happy about picks. On the flip side, he makes a bunch of tremendous throws into tight coverage and that makes him difficult to defend," said Jets head coach Eric Mangini. "You want to go through the best decision-making process possible. He’s made a ton of decisions and a ton of them have been really, really good."

"It wasn’t our best performance, but it was a win and we did some good things. I give them a lot of credit," Favre said. "They took Dallas to the wire, they took the Giants to the wire, and they took us to the wire. We had one of those games. I don’t believe in ugly wins. I believe a win is a win and that one felt as good as any win I’ve been a part of in recent memory," Favre said. "I believe a win is a win." Someone asked Brett about his lower TD count this week as compared to the 6 TDs he threw against the Cardinals two weeks ago. Brett stoically commented he doesn't play for stats - he plays for wins.

At home in the Meadowlands. Favre will be making his 258th straight start as a QB. 1st all-time for quarterbacks and 2nd all-time...period.

Jets had a bye last week. Wonder after that 6 TD game against Arizona, if Brett the Jet's got any fuel left in the tank to unleash a little more hell on the hapless Bengals. I say "hapless" only because of their 0-5 start...hey - any given Sunday, right?
