9:30 a.m. CST. 4:30 p.m. Polish time. Here's the info on their sight. I understand (rant coming) that "film" is a director's medium. Fine. However, every film festival should include the writer's name (some do, some don't). The film didn't just magically appear for the director to say, "hmmmm...this would make a great film".

Happy Pączki Day!

In Poland, it's celebrated today. American Poles celebrated it Tuesday. Typical Polacks - can't decide on the holiday. I'm part Polish. I can say, "Polack".

It's a traditional Polish pastry - a donut, if you will. The fillings vary...prune is traditional. That's a prune Pączki above. Not good. It's pronounced, "PAWNCH-kee" or "POONCH-kee". Either one works.

So to all my Polack friends and family (mother's side) out there, "Cieszą się!"

"City on the Hill", a poem by Citizen X.

Conceal your ears and passions,

When the smiling man says,

We will be as a City upon a Hill,

No Ideal lasts outside the mind,

Of the Mad King.

Burn the bridges of that City,
Flood the moats til' bursting,
The Levees drown the fires,
Then hurl your stones ov'r,
And watch collapse with pleasure.

The painting is by Zdzisław Beksiński, a renowned Polish painter, photographer and sculptor who was best known as a fantasy artist. The poem is by Citizen X, a fellow blogger; we both contribute to another blog - Ditalini Press.

If I didn't know any better, I'd swear this poem was commissioned by the Republicans to reflect their attitude toward the Obama administration and its affect on our country.

"So these two Polish models walk into a bar..."

"And the one says..." Forget it. I got no joke. All I have is two, hot Polish models. Period.

I stumbled upon the current issue of the magazine Nylon and the model above, Anja Rubik, was featured on the cover. So I did some digging and found this shot of her on W - and it reminded me of a shot in Lake magazine of my close friend from high school, Justyna, who models in Chicago. Similar looks, styles, attitudes...they're both models and they're both Polish.

No? Well it's really all about what I think, right? That's it. Just my observation.
