WASHINGTON - At a cost of nearly $42 million, the IRS wants you to know: Your check is almost in the mail. The Internal Revenue Service is spending the money on letters to alert taxpayers to expect rebate checks as part of the economic stimulus plan.

Why not just pay some brilliant marketing/PR firm to come up with an alternative method that would accomplish the job? But no one cares. Nobody will say anything. Our government will continue to spend frivolously and we'll all just go along with it like lemmings.
