Passion = Truth? How Jeffrey James Francis Ircink Sees The World? I love when people are passionate about something. That surging of emotion is the one honest measure of what truth is. It's a truthful display of how a person really feels about something or someone at that particular moment. That passion IS truth.

What's with the acid attack crap?

One of the problems I have with the U.S. is our justice system. It sucks. I won't go into a long diatribe about it. You know it. I know it. It sucks.

We need to adopt the eye-for-an-eye policy they have in Iran. Some guy tossed acid into a woman's face who jilted him and the Iranian courts ruled that the man will have 10 drops of sulphuric acid placed in each eye as his form of punishment.

I'm in favor of the death penalty...and I've been a proponent for - oh...chopping off the hands of thieves as they do in Asia and the Middle East. But we'll never do that because everyone thinks it's too barbaric - too "3rd World" for the U.S; therefore, our justice system will continue to be made a mockery of. I guess there are those in our government who enjoy being "walked all over" in the name of "democracy" and "fairness" and "individual rights".

Barbaric? Cruel and unusual? Tell that to the woman the man blinded in both eyes.

Apparently this psychotic use of acid is nothing new - I found reports of school girls getting it in Afghanistan and another jilted lover in India. Horrible - but I approve the manner in which the Iranian government is using it.

Bond Girls. Jeff's 3 Favorites. And your's?

Bond. James Bond. Men wanted to kill him (or be like him). Women were putty in his hands. Sean Connery is, hands down, my favorite Bond. As I tuned in to Encore's salute to Bond last week, I had a chance to rediscover some of my favorite Bond girls. Obviously, all the women in James Bond's life were beautiful. My Top 3, in order:

#1 Lois Chiles as Dr. Holly Goodhead in Moonraker.

#2 Carole Bouquet as Melina Havelock in For Your Eyes Only.

#3 Honor Blackman as Pussy Galore in Goldfinger.

If you'd like to see more pictures of my Top 3 (along with what they look like today), as well as my 4 Runner-ups, click on READ MORE! Cheers.

Lois Chiles/Holly Goodhead in Moonraker.

Honor Blackmon/Pussy Galore in Goldfinger.

Carole Bouquet/Melina Havelock in For Your Eyes Only. Gérard Depardieu's wife for 8 years.

Lana Wood/Plenty O'Toole in Diamonds Are Forever. Natalie Wood's little sister.

Shirley Eaton/Jill Masterson in Goldfinger. Her appearance was short-lived, as she was the lucky girl who was guilded in gold.

Corrine Clery/Corrine Dufour in Moonraker.

Why can't I find "her" peering into the refrigerator at work?

These two biddies at work feel the need to do their job - and everyone else's. I've told them both off before and they don't care for 'ole Jeff. So today they're milling around the refrigerator contemplating what's "ripe" and should be tossed. Theoretically, this is my job; however, the emails I send out to employees about cleaning their crap out of the refrigerator go unheeded. So I say, "fuck'em".

About a month ago the one biddy tossed two people's foodstuffs out - food that had just been placed in the 'fridge in the last 2 days (one that day). I got an earful from two very hungry people at lunchtime. But like flies and hemorrhoids, these two keep coming back. One day...ole Jeff is gonna let loose.

So they remove two items from the 'fridge today and send emails out to the staff. "Come get your food. It's on the table." One of the items is claimed and promptly tossed down the insinkerator. I walk into the kitchen and I can smell the 2nd item which is in a bag on one of the kitchen tables. I approach said bag, which is dripping onto the table. Very, very ripe.

I tossed it - which I thought the biddies were doing. Thanks, ladies. Thanks for cleaning out the refrigerator and moving the stench out into the kitchen so everyone can smell it. You done real good. I'm learning from ya!

Ted Nugent on Gun Control

Ted hunts. I hunt. He can be a bit over-the-top, but I'm OK with that. He's passionate about his viewpoints. And I concur with his statements in this video. I blogged about my views here:

http://jeffircink.blogspot.com/search/label/gun%20ownership

If you're a liberal and you disagree with Ted, that's fine. But don't dismiss him because you think he's a moron, idiot, metal head, hard rocker, psycho, nut job before you listening to him first. The man is extremely intelligent. Would you prefer that all the conservatives dismiss everything the liberals had to say - without even listening?

Incidentally, Ted was doing an interview with a French journalist who happened to be an animal rights activist.

The discussion came around to deer hunting. The journalist asked, 'What do you think is the last thought in the head of a deer before you shoot him? Is it, "Are you my friend?" or is it "Are you the one who killed my brother?"

Nugent replied, "Deer aren't capable of that kind of thinking. All they care about is, where am I going to eat next, who am I going to screw next, and can I run fast enough to get away! They are very much like the French."

The interview ended. I like the French part (and I'm a bit French).

G.I. Joe: Then and Now.

The New York Toy Fair is up and running and one of the products unveiled was the new G.I. Joe. Got me thinking. 1960's G.I Joe (left) and 1970's G.I. Joe (right). I owned both. 11 1/2 inches tall. "Life-like" hair and beard. Kung-fu grip. Fond memories. Still have a lot of my equipment. Both were awesome.

G.I. Joe today. 3 3/4 inches tall. They suck. And they're just small enough to shove up someone's ass (which is about all they're good for). How safe is that?

A Valentine's Day postscript: My friend Ed Cotter passed away.

Ed Cotter directed me in two different productions of the musical, Blood Brothers here in California. Interestingly, the word is that Ed mentioned to someone recently that the loss of his wife, De, in 2007 had been weighing heavily on his heart. They had been married for over 60 years, I think, and inseparable. He told this person he wanted to be with his wife on Valentine's Day.

His heart gave way - on Valentine's Day this past weekend.

Ed was a supporter of mine. He was my friend. He mostly directed and produced - but he did act. He was a film editor on Happy Days for years, garnering an Emmy for his work. When accepting his award, he said that he did very little "editing" on the episode he won for because Henry Winkler made is so easy for him (Ed) NOT to edit. There were a number of productions I had chances to work with Ed on other than Blood Brothers - Oleanna, The Lion in Winter, The Beauty Queen of Leenane. The timing was always off.

The character trait of Ed's I admired most was his passion. As you know from the title of this blog, PASSION's vital to my existence. When we were doing Blood Brothers and a critic ripped on the show (not the performance - the show itself), Ed went into a tyrannical rage. I followed suit. "How can you not love this show?", he'd scream, the tone in his voice made me shake - with delight. Oddly enough, when I did Blood Brothers at Riverside Theatre in Iowa City, Ron Clark and Jody Hovland echoed the same sentiments as Ed. Their demeanor was a tad more subdued (but still passionate!).

"Fuck anyone who hates that show! Fuck them!" That's what Ed and I would say. He's with De now. I'm happy for him. And I'm sad for my loss. It's what he wanted.

To quote the Narrator/Conductor/Me in Blood Brothers, "Exactly, lad. Exactly!"

POSTSCRIPT: Had a very nice talk yesterday with Marion Ross from Happy Days. I called her to tell her of Ed's death. I met her through Ed while performing in Blood Brothers. Wonderful lady. Spoke very highly of Ed. She was quick to remind me that Ed was the only person associated with Happy Days to win an Emmy.

Remember when Santa smoked in the 1930's?

My brother emailed me a few "questionable" advertisements from the 1930's and I had to chuckle, especially as I have an advertising creative background. Though I never wrote copy encouraging teens to smoke because you'll get laid, I appreciate the task that lay before these ad men from 70+ years ago. Click on READ MORE! to see the rest.

On a related note, I've watched the first three episodes of the new TNT series, Trust Me, starring Thomas Cavanagh and Eric McCormack. I was drawn to the show because it's set at an advertising agency in Chicago (the ad agency part, not the Chicago part), much like I was drawn to Thirtysomething or Mad Men (John Hamm still doesn't know how to smoke a ciggie like a real smoker = my one beef).

The only issue I have is with Cavanagh's character. He's a fast-talking copywriter who most certainly is dripping with ADHD, and is guilt of creating a page of dialogue for a simple "yes" or "no" comment because he won't shut the fuck UP! I thought, 'maybe it's me'.

Check out these reviews from the New York Times, Hollywood Reporter, Washington Post, New York Magazine and Variety. It's not "me".

According to Caterpillar, stimulus package might be more of a crawl than a quick fix.

EAST PEORIA, ILL. - Last week President Obama repeated the claim we asked about yesterday at the press briefing that Jim Owens, the CEO of Caterpillar, Inc., "said that if Congress passes our plan, this company will be able to rehire some of the folks who were just laid off."

Caterpillar announced 22,000 layoffs last month.

But after the president left the event, Owens said the exact opposite. Asked if the stimulus package would be able to stop the 22,000 layoffs or not, Owens said, "I think realistically no. The truth is we're going to have more layoffs before we start hiring again...It is going to take some time before that stimulus bill" means re-hiring," he said.

HP. JH. Tsk, tsk on both of you.

Out of respect for a number of other people, I can't share the dish on these two. I just had to blurt out something - something non-specific and open-ended because it was driving me nuts. There are enough gossip mongering blogs and websites that "break" celebrity news.

One "specific" thing about JH that bothered and that I will comment on has to do with my disdain for arrogance and entitlement and it's also a reflection on the youth of today. Apparently he didn't want a certain Oscar-winning, elderly actor to be in the film he (JH) was going to shoot because he (JH) felt the actor wasn't "contemporary enough". Now...the elderly actor would've played...an elderly role. How can an elderly actor be "contemporary" - unless of course what you really mean to say is that you'd prefer a "name" in the role, someone that may be a tad more recognizable to the public. Like if you were to compare, say Paul Newman and Abe Vigoda. Newman would've been more contemporary in that sense. More of a name. More people know him.

JH and HP are young. I suppose they can't be held accountable for everything they say. Or should they? I will say this: I won't ever watch a movie or television show with either of these two actors in it.

Congrats, Dino, on your Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

At the Grammy's last Sunday, after announcing that Dean Martin was the recipient of a Grammy for Lifetime Achievement, Queen Latifah attempted ('cause I know SHE didn't write this) to tie Martin's award in to the next act, by introducing M.I.A. (never heard of her) and Kanye West (wish I hadn't heard of him), T.I. (the famous silent film director, Thomas Ince?), Jay Z and Lil Wayne, who performed "Swagga Like Us." The performance was in black and white, and the men were dressed in tuxes as a tribute to the Rat Pack. In my opinion, a pathetic and awkward segue from Martin's award.

The legendary Martin received a gold record in 2004 for his fastest-selling album ever, which also hit the iTunes Top 10. For the week ending December 23, 2006, the Dean Martin and Martina McBride duet of "Baby, It's Cold Outside" reached #7 on the R&R AC chart. It also went to #36 on the R&R Country chart.

Martin, who passed away in 1995, was at one time the highest paid entertainer in the world. First famous as part of the Martin & Lewis comedy team (Jerry Lewis, who's receiving an honorary Oscar this year), Deano went on to become an esteemed member of the Rat Pack and his movies, recording career and television shows made him one of the most beloved entertainers of all time. In the day, you were extremely lucky to either get a ticket to see Martin & Lewis perform, to see the Rat Pack kibitz or to see Deano perform in Vegas as a solo act.
The pinkie ring I wear, at times, I wear in tribute to this man.

(Incidentally, The Rat Pack was largely responsible for the integration of Las Vegas. Sinatra and Martin steadfastly refused to appear anywhere that barred Sammy Davis, Jr., forcing the casinos to open their doors to African-American entertainers and patrons, and to drop restrictive covenants against Jews.)

"You're a bastard from a basket!", or Am I sick 'cause I cheered for Daniel Planview at the end of "There Will Be Blood"?

I just saw this movie last night. I know - I'm late. Hey - I saw Citizen Kane for the first time a couple years ago. So drink my milkshake.

Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis' turn as the character Daniel Plainview in There Will Be Blood was as greedy and lecherous as any oil man could possibly be. Aside from that, the man, I felt, had some redeeming qualities. He loved his son (tough love); he was ambitious, created jobs, determined, etc. And I must say I thoroughly enjoyed his character's use of a bowling pin at the end of the movie (won't spoil it for those of you who haven't seen the movie).

There's a post at The Defamer.com from February of last year: "Overthinking 'Blood': What did Daniel Plainview tell Eli?" that addresses an inaudible conversation between the character Plainview and preacher Eli Sunday. There are some humorous suggestions by readers in the comment section regarding the possible dialogue that was exchanged between the two men.

My buddy Nick commented that Planview reminded him of me. I believe it was a compliment. Oh...and Plainview had no conscience. I do.

AZ man finds out his property isn't his to protect.

Imagine you have property in California, New Mexico, Arizona, or Texas adjacent to the Mexican border. Imagine your property is used as a thoroughfare for illegal alien traffic. What would you do? One Arizona man has been fighting back - and now 16 illegal aliens are suing him.

According to court documents, one of the 16 illegal immigrants is a convicted felon deported from this country after a 1993 arrest by U.S. authorities on drug charges. Gerardo Gonzalez, described in a lawsuit brought by the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF) as a 38-year-old Mexican citizen, was convicted in September 1993 for possession of a controlled substance for sale and ordered deported to his home country.

The idea that this lawsuit even made it into our courts is a fucking joke. Face it, Americans...this is no longer just YOUR country. Get used to it.

You don't have to be good looking to talk your way out of a ticket. Just don't speak English.

A friend of mine has a friend who's a cop in Santa Rosa, California. The cop told my friend that he stopped a car for a moving violation. Turns out the driver couldn't speak English. And the cop let'm go. Wait - he was FORCED to let them go.

Seems that if you can't speak English and can't understand English, legally you can't be given a ticket because you can't...oh what's the use in explaining this? Why SHOULD this need explaining? This is a travesty. It's a joke. Only in America does every God damn thing with a pulse have "rights". If you lack skills, you don't get a job. If you lack money, you can't buy a car or home. And only in America can you lack the ability to talk or understand the native tongue and have that translate into your RIGHT to NO FINE and NO POINTS off your license.

How's that for American hospitality?

Origami No. 20. A post Valentine poem from DG to MM.

Watching you at lake's end,
Stepping barefoot on the rocks,
like a little girl hopping on the rocks,
Speaking of your fondness for diamonds.
What a pleasant day.
I married you a little bit then.

My friend Donovan wrote this to his future wife, Maria, about 4 months after they began dating.

(Origami is sort of my catchword for a featured blog entry that highlights my original writings - could be an excerpt from one of my plays, a poem, a song, a rant, a rave, a cursing, etc. Origami is the art of folding paper (the word is of Japanese origin). So, within the folds of this particular blog feature you may find something really beautiful, meaningful or poignant.)

$400 million for ocean habitat restoration?

Here's an example of "pork", found in the House version of the President's stimulus bill. I don't know if the Senate rejected this or not - can't find that version of the bill on the Internet.

While ocean research and habitat restoration is a worthwhile endeavor, I don't see how this qualifies as an immediate "stimulus" for our economy. Someone explain it to me.

Cousin Scotty adds a few more questionable expenditures to the list. I do, however, agree with the $50 million for the NEA. Hey, when the world's in the toilet you're gonna need "court jesters" like me to help get you out of the doldrums = the arts. I mean, if the government is going to dole out money, what will the most immediate, positive effect - the arts or ocean habitat restoration? I'll take it one step further. I'd rather see that $50 million dispersed more directly to theaters and arts centers, rather than having it go to the NEA. Take out the middleman.

A Valentine's post to Nancy Pelosi.

(Remember, I'm writing this post as if I were in Ireland.)

I can think of no other word to describe our Speaker of the House, Californian Congresswomen and 2nd in line to the Presidency (scary thought) behind Vice-President Biden other than it starts with an "H" and ends with a "T" and it has "ear" in the middle. Chuckle, snort, gaffaw. I jest. Really the word I'm thinking of starts with a "C" and ends with a "T" - and has an "un" in the middle for...I don't know - because it does. Hey, I couldn't use "en", "ol", "oo", "an' ", "oa" or "el". "Un" was the only thing that fit.

Now hold on, ya bastards (that's how they address each other in Ireland) - before you have a liberal shit-fit, hear me out. Pelosi's a HUGE supporter of illegal alien's rights in the U.S. She voted against the Secure Fence Act of 2006, which allowed for over 700 miles of double-reinforced fence to be built along the border with Mexico, across cities and deserts alike, in the U.S. states of California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas in areas that have experienced illegal drug trafficking and illegal immigration.

How amusing - this woman who represents the great state of California in our House of Representatives. California...which has a crippling deficit, yet spends almost as much money on illegal aliens in the form of health, medical, education, and food stamps/other welfare programs as the deficit she is faced with. I'm not a financial bastard but you don't have to be to understand that it fiscally doesn't add up.

And yet, what a coincidence. Though the House (bastards) passed President Obama's stimulus bill with the E-Verify provision intact, House Democrats (bastards) finagled a last minute change (in the 12th hour) and the Senate (bastards) dropped the E-Verify provision from the bill.

What's E-Verify? E-Verify is an Internet based system operated by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in partnership with the Social Security Administration (SSA) that allows participating employers to electronically verify the employment eligibility of their newly hired employees. E-Verify is free and voluntary and is the best means available for determining employment eligibility of new hires and the validity of their Social Security Numbers.

Look for more on E-Verify in a future post. All you bastards should be concerned. In a nutshell, the House wanted to require anyone getting a contract paid for with stimulus money to use the government's E-Verify program to ensure employees are citizens or immigrants permitted to work. Now it's out (for now). Conveniently, Pelosi can say she voted for the bill (in the House) with the E-Verify provision intact which covers her political ass. I'm contending that, as Pelosi's a vocal supporter of illegal immigrant's (bastards) rights, she and other Democrats had their hand in helping get the E-Verify nixed from the bill in the Senate during late night back scratching caucuses. It makes sense, keeping in mind Pelosi's vocal stance on supporting illegal alien's rights. Win-win. Get it?

Pelosi's one of the richest bastards in the House. What does she care if illegal aliens reap benefits from President Obama's stimulus package? The other bitch/bastard - the one I used to work for in Bel Air - employs illegal aliens (she did when I was working for her from 1999-2006) and no one seems to give a rat's ass about that. Bastards.

When will the bastard Democrats/liberals wake up and realize that this country can not continue to GIVE MONEY AWAY to bastards who aren't here legally, especially when our economy is sucking hind tit right now? What is logical about that? I barely passed college economics and I get it. And the idea that money in the form of this stimulus package, a package with the intention of revitalizing our economy, will be available to illegal aliens makes it even more laughable.

Try this on for size, ya bastards. Call it "Jeff Ircink logic": Explain to me why Democrats/liberals, generally speaking, want to pull our American soldiers out of Iraq (because "we have no business being there"), and yet these same Democrats/liberals are in favor of handing out free money to people who "have no business being in the United States" - the illegal aliens? If that sounds like I'm comparing apples to oranges, I'm not. I'm illustrating the liberal's hypocrisy - that as long as their agenda is attended to, no one else's matters. Now make believe I'm a bastard and please tell me what I'm missing? When will you bastards wake up? When it's too late? Well when you bastards do wake up you'll be crying on my shoulder and I'll have to shoot you all ya bastards because you're making me sick and you could've done something about it earlier but you had to jump on the "every bastard has rights" bandwagon and...you get the point.

Let me put it this way (this was added after my initial post - part of my comment to a reader). You may not SEE the direct affect of illegal aliens skimming off our economy (course, our tax dollars are subsidizing their medical, education and welfare), but if I went into your wallet and took out a $5 and told you, "this money goes toward the money this bastard country spends on the bastard illegal aliens", you'd fight for that $5 back, wouldn't you? Damn right you would!

I've said too much. This post was just supposed to be about Pelosi and how I think she's a cunt. Oops - well, now I've done it. What? I'm in Ireland, remember? "Cunt" is accepted as part of the everyday vernacular in Ireland and Scotland. Read this - Twenty Major uses the word all the time. He uses the word in hundreds of posts, no less, and he's one of the top bloggers in Ireland.

Just say it with an Irish or Scottish accent. Sounds just like "dumb bitch". I'll let you know when I arrive back in America. Bastards.

Hey, Hassan! You don't have to tell me twice! Hal istamta'ta bewaqtika?

At least he didn't use waterboarding. That's illegal in the U.S.

BUFFALO, N.Y. - A suburban Buffalo man who founded a cable TV station to promote better understanding of Muslims in the U.S. has been arrested on charges he beheaded his wife. Muzzammil Hassan, 44, was arrested Thursday for investigation of second-degree murder, The Buffalo News reported. Police identified the victim as Aasiya Z. Hassan, 37. Her body was found at his business, Bridges TV.

Hassan launched the television station in 2004 amid hopes that it would help portray Muslims in a more positive light. Its slogan was "connecting people through understanding." According to authorities, Aasiya Hassan recently filed for divorce and had a protection order against her husband, the Buffalo News reported.

"Obviously, this is the worst form of domestic violence possible," Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III said Friday.

Thanks, Frank. Here I thought simply beating up my old lady woulda cinched for 1st prize.

"Rap Das Armas" - Boys from Brazil make me nauseous.

Not these boys from Brazil. These boys from Brazil would be a welcome sight next to hearing this song from Brazilian rappers MC Cidinho and MC Doca.

NPR played a song called, "Rap Das Armas", on Morning Becomes Eclectic. I liken it to fingernails on a chalkboard. Jesca Hoop's song "Summertime" had the same effect on me. Well, it was her voice on her song that made me want to jam an ice pick in my temple. Same with this awful piece of rap shit.

Had a helluva time trying to backtrack and figure out the name of the song though. The Internet connection goes down, then NPR's track list wasn't lining up with the song that was playing so I had to become - whatever. Quite a story behind the annoying tune, but that was lost on me due to the incessant droning of the rappers. No - won't put the song on this website. Listen to it on your own time. And take a barf bag.
