Favre Named 2007 United States Sports Academy Male Athlete of the Year
New York (AHN) - Quarterback Brett Favre of the Green Packers and Belgian tennis star Justine Henin were named the 2007 United States Sports Academy (USSA) Male and Female Athletes of the Year by a worldwide online vote initiated by Msnbc.com and USAToday.com.
Favre outvoted Tiger Woods and quarterback Tom Brady in the global voting done online. Favre, who is having one of his best NFL seasons, has led the Packers this season and so far recorded 38 fourth-quarter rallies in his career. Favre, 38, has made 61,405 career passing yards and 440 career touchdown passes and still counting.
Thousands of online voters cast their votes from December 1 to 25. The Academy Athlete of the Year presented by Msnbc.com and USAToday.com is the culmination of the Academy's year-long Athlete of the Month program, which recognizes the accomplishments of men and women in sports worldwide.
