Passion = Truth? How Jeffrey James Francis Ircink Sees The World? I love when people are passionate about something. That surging of emotion is the one honest measure of what truth is. It's a truthful display of how a person really feels about something or someone at that particular moment. That passion IS truth.

Sugaring time in Booth Hollow.

Earlier start this year. Weather was a factor - and my brother fine-tuned his collecting technique. Last year we ended up with 150 gallons of sap (that's 4 gallons of syrup). We have 300 gallons already. For last year's sugaring posts, check back in my RECENT POST & BLOG ARCHIVE (scroll down, right panel) under late March 2010/early April 2010.

That tarp was to keep the rain off the evaporator - and us. The trade-off is that once the sap starts boiling, it gets like a sauna in there and it's hard to see. It's pretty cool how you can smell the maple syrup in the burn-off.

Jason saved this little guy from jumping into the fire.

Fungi. I think.

The musical chemistry between Joy Williams and John Paul White results in music that will send a chill down your spine. Straddling several genres of music from folk, country, and roots/Americana, The Civil Wars are the real deal. They are a great example that less is more in this era of over produced, commercialized "music" that panders to the lowest common denominator. Support these talented musicians and buy their album, see them live and tell your friends.
