Passion = Truth? How Jeffrey James Francis Ircink Sees The World? I love when people are passionate about something. That surging of emotion is the one honest measure of what truth is. It's a truthful display of how a person really feels about something or someone at that particular moment. That passion IS truth.

Former Raider WR Tim Brown - yet another douche bag.

Either you're with me in the Brett Favre camp or you're out. That simple. Everyone has an opinion. But Ex-Raider Tim Brown crossed the line. Brown retired in 2005 after 16 seasons with the Raiders and one with Tampa Bay and has been an NFL commentator on Fox Sports Network. In an article in Friday's July 18 Los Angeles Times, Brown makes a number of dumb comments. I'll repeat his comment and then comment on his comment. With me?

1) Brown said all Favre can do at this point by coming back is damage his legacy. "I don't think he serves himself or anybody any good by coming back...Bottom line is this: If this was anybody else, this wouldn't be a conversation...But because it's Brett Favre and it's the legendary quarterback, everybody's having these conversations...You can't say anything bad about Brett Favre publicly. Are you kidding me? Who are you to say something bad about Brett Favre?"

Yeh, you were a great player once, Tim. But people will remember Favre a lot longer. And you're right - guys like Favre are granted leeway in some instances. That's just the nature of being a legend - which you are not. Football is forgiving, like Hollywood forgives its stars. And this'll all be forgotten sooner than later. As far as Brett's legacy, how will wanting to unretire hurt his record stats, consecutive stats, his charity work and the persona he embodied on the field, Tim? It won't - and you're an idiot. If anything, it might even add to his legacy - him wanting to return to the game he loves, defying all the "experts" who believe THEY know what's in the best interests of Brett Favre. Like you, Tim.

2) Which brings me to #2. "Once you say you're retired, you're retired." There's a rule that states this? I know I used this line in another post, but what is this - a school yard game? "Na na na-na na...you said you're retired...and now you can't unretire!". Sing it with me, Tim. It's catchy.

3) "But I know for a fact that the organization (the Packers) doesn't want him back. They didn't want him there last year." I have the most problem with this comment. Magically, Tim Brown has now become a Packer spokesman. Hey, Tim - the Packers went 14-4 with Brett. Oooooo...was that so bad? If Rogers had started he would've missed multiple games with a broken ankle and pulled groin and we would never had made the playoffs. And by the way Tim, you just corroborated Favre's and his agent's arguments that they felt Brett wasn't wanted back the last few years. New York Times, March 5, 2008 - Favre's agent Bus Cook said, "Nobody pushed Brett Favre out the door, but then nobody encouraged him NOT to go out that door either". Are you trying to hurt Brett or help him?

Here's the thing, Tim Brown. There wouldn't be a story if the Packers hadn't "moved on" during Brett's 4-month retirement. They would've welcomed Brett back and he'd be the starter, like he has for the past 16 years. But Packer brASS Ted Thompson has told Brett the team has moved on with Aaron Rogers. That's what the hubbub's about - Brett wants to unretire and he lost his job with the Pack and he's a bit miffed. Just like you were in 2004 when you were released by the Raiders before the 2004 season because you wouldn't accept a smaller role in the offense (possibly due to your declining performance), prompting you to sign for one year with the Buccaneers.

Not only that, the Packers sound like they really don't want Brett playing ANYWHERE. I'm guessing that if you were in a similar situation, you'd be a little pissed as well - if the Raiders kept you from playing football, right?

My point here, Tim, is that your opinion makes you sound like a bitter, ex-footballer who knows everything but doesn't know shit.
