Earlier start this year. Weather was a factor - and my brother fine-tuned his collecting technique. Last year we ended up with 150 gallons of sap (that's 4 gallons of syrup). We have 300 gallons already. For last year's sugaring posts, check back in my

That tarp was to keep the rain off the
evaporator - and us. The trade-off is that once the sap starts boiling, it gets like a sauna in there and it's hard to see. It's pretty cool how you can smell the maple syrup in the burn-off.
