The University of Wisconsin System is holding their 15th Annual Women of Color Awards consortium in April. The 16 award winners include: 7 African Americans, 2 Asians, 4 Native Americans, 1 Hispanic, 1 (unknown) and 1 Caucasion.
So why don't they just refer to the award as, "15th Annual Women Awards" or the "15th Annual Women's Rainbow Awards"? If there's to be an emphasis on diversification in our society (which there should be), why call attention to the word, "color"?
