"My Life As A Mudskipper", and other sordid tales from the Aquarium of the Pacific.

A mudskipper. Odd duck - amphibian, actually - that spends time out of the water, as well as in the water. Shot this at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach yesterday. What's more interesting, I think, is the larger picture this was cropped from. Take a look by clicking READ MORE, and see what else I captured on film.

(WAIT! There's more...)

There's our buddy the mudskipper once again. But who's that posing for his Cecil B. DeMille moment toward the left? Another mudskipper? Sorta get the impression they really don't care where they are - in an aquarium or in their natural habitat. I had to laugh - it looks like a Muppet puppet, doesn't it?

Couldn't get a shot of these suckers swimming around but snapped this from the information board. "Palette tang". Interesting. Didn't know "palette tang" referred to a fish as well.

Lorikeets. Not sure why the birds were an exhibit at an aquarium. I think it would be nice for someone to give me a bath.

Jellyfish.

Instant home or office aquarium.

Seahorse.

Moon jelly.

A pair of weedy sea dragons, kin to the seahorse. Odd but, unlike our friend the mudskipper, beautiful creatures.

A close relation to the weed sea dragon - the leafy sea dragon.
