Favre tells Packers he's retiring, according to his agent

I don't believe it. I am in denial. But it's all OVER the internet (this time) and the news.

Favre tells Packers he's retiring

Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre has decided to retire.

Chris Mortensen reported that according to Favre's agent, Buss Cook, Favre informed Packers coach Mike McCarthy of his decision Monday night.

Right now Cook said Brett would have no press conference. Ha - that's Brett. I don't believe this story. For whatever reason, I just don't believe it. Let's wait on it for a bit, shall we, until we hear a bit more. This can't be happening.

Mortensen also reported that Favre, who wanted the Packers to obtain Randy Moss when he was a free agent last season, had once again pushed for Moss to join the Packers. Favre had spoken to Moss late last week and was willing to commit to more than just this season if Moss and the Packers could come to an agreement. I don't believe it. If Favre thought he had multiple seasons in him he wouldn't retire - we've got a great receiving corps. and Moss NOT coming to GB wouldn't be the back-breaker regarding Favre's retirement.

I just don't believe it. Did I say that??? Keep posted. Oddly enough, this is my 400th post. The post I was going to get all celebratory about is the very post that I first comment on Brett Favre's retirement. And, even if I had decided to stay home from work today because I'm pissed off and depressed (did I say I don't believe this?), my roommate stayed home 'cause she's sick.

I'm fucked no matter what I do.

  1. Man, this is a bummer. But ya gotta respect the guy, and I can't think of an athlete I respect more. So, if he says it's time to go, it's time to go. I'm just glad we got to see him for as long as we did! Someday, when I'm droolin' in a bucket, I'll talk about seeing Jordan in his prime, Molitor and Yount (and maybe Gumby), and from the Kiln, MS, good ol' #4

  2. Jeff,
Well so much for "The End is Near" cause ""The End is Here"!
Hard to imagine watching a game without Brett, huh? Guess we knew sooner or later he'd have to retire, but weren't prepared for this day. Makes you feel like someone died doesn't it?
